The Mula is a high quality bicycle pannier that easily attaches to the rack of you bike and can be easily carried around while being comfortable, stylish and easy to use for your everyday needs.

You will not be able to find any bag similar to The Mula in bicycle stores. The Mula is a unique pannier that is fantastic to use. The bags will retail for US$1,200. We are rewarding kickstarter backers with the wholesale prices of The Mula. These bags will *not* be offered at these prices again. Now is the time!
The Mula
Messenger bags can apply undue pressure to muscles around the neck and spine, leading to discomfort around the neck and spinal areas. Heavy messenger bags can pull and twist your body leading to discomfort on the spine.
Backpacks can lead to spinal discomfort as the weight pulls the body back and increases tensions around the spine.
The Mula differs from these bags as, when worn over the shoulder, uses the full support of the shoulder, the shoulder bones and muscles, to aid in carrying the bag. This makes the bag extremely comfortable to carry around. Leaving the spine, neck arms and hands free to move normally. Additionally, because the bag attaches easily to your bike, when you are cycling around you are left free to manage the bike without the inconvenience of having a bag on your back. The Mula will also pull the center of gravity down on the bike providing an extra level of support.

Even if you don’t like bicycle panniers you might like these easy to carry bags and our rewards. These bags work fantastic without a bicycle! These bags are unisex and not for unicycles.
Our journey started almost two years ago when we became fed up taking the pannier bags off our bicycles and carrying them around town. They were / are uncomfortable and awkward, especially if you are shopping or meeting people. We therefore took it upon ourselves to review this whole situation and develop a new bag that can work for everyone. As bicycle aficionados we recognize that today the bicycle is the modern equivalent of the workhorse and these horses only use a fraction of their cargo carrying potential. We began to cross breed the horse and bicycle many years ago. While our initial genetic testing was a failure we have finally cracked the code. We have now developed these limited edition bags to combat the awkwardness of carrying pannier bags. We have gone through countless iterations to develop a bag that can easily attach to your bike, be extremely comfortable to carry around, be hands free and provide high performance & durability.
The bags are lined with bonded leather to provide a water resistant interior and available in small, medium and large sizes.
Born in the Bronx, Developed in Detroit and Made in Michigan, The Mula is the luxury item for 2016. These bags have been handcrafted and handmade in Detroit using high performance fabrications.
As you know if you live in a city like Detroit you cannot leave anything attached to your bike - including your bike - right now we are final stages of perfecting the bike attachment system that secures your bag to any bike rack without adding any discomfort when you carry the bag around.
We like to peddle to vintage heavy metal but if your bike has a rack we have your back. The Mula is the perfect workhorse that’s not just for your bike, but also your everyday needs.
We really want you to back this project and we want to provide you with a high end product. We have a lot of great rewards and a truly wonderful bag. In tandem we can meet and maybe exceed our goal.

Leather & non-leather vegan options are available in durable scotch guard canvas & 100 % cotton denim fabrics.

Hot off the presses. This is our first sample from our cut and sew manufacturer for the Leather Mula. We are super excited about it. This is still not the final design as we are making even more improvements. The Mula is going to be gorgeous! Please remember that the Mula is a hand-made leather product. We are supervising and providing quality control with the manufacturer. They are very close to us and we are involved day to day with them. We need your support on this product because we would like to extend our capabilities and build out a complete local production. We are working very hard to make this a stand out product.

Show your support for American manufacturing & help spread the word by pledging support. One of the reasons for this Kickstarter is to help us establish a local production chain for our work. Everything in this product is handmade, sourced locally in the Midwest and manufactured in Michigan. Actually Left-Handed Branded is able to manufacture a limited number of items with our in-house team. We normally use this resource to support our bespoke clothing, made to measure & custom fitted items. We have created this Kickstarter campaign so that we can expand our resources & help grow our business through the use of local manufacturers. This will enable us to supply national and international retailers with our products. Please support this Kickstarter campaign and grow our business as we begin our American made journey.
Where we are
We have created many prototypes and we have been in discussion with local suppliers and manufacturers. If you are in Detroit you may well see us around town testing our The Mula Prototypes! As soon as the campaign reaches its goal we will immediately create the leather dies of our pattern. These dies are cast in metal and used to punch a consistent pattern into the leather hide and create a perfect shape for sewing.
Colours
The Leather Mula Bag will be offered in black or brown leather.
The Canvas Bag will be offered in a variety of colours as a stretch goal. The Denim option comes in a 100% Cotton Blue Denim or a 100% Cotton Blue Herringbone.
Technical Description
These bags have two pockets on either side of the bag. Due to the cost of casting each Die, we will be making every leather MULA bag in a MEDIUM size. This is the most suitable size for men and women and is a fantastic all round bag option. HOWEVER, should we reach our stretch goal then LARGE and SMALL sizes in leather will become available. We will send you a size option choice after the campaign.
The approx. dimensions are as follows:
- Large (Stretch Goal): Length 38", Width 13.5", Welt Pocket 11.5"
- Medium (kickstarter size): Length: 33", Width 13.5", Welt Pocket 11.5"
- Small (Stretch Goal): Length 29", Width 11", Welt Pocket 9"
- The Mula's exclusive and unique secure armhole, which secures the bag to you while carrying it on your shoulder, also doubles as an easy to carry handle for one (or two) hands.
About The Rewards
We will not be offering these prices at retail. The prices are set to give you a great deal for a great product as such all the rewards and products in this campaign will be limited editions and bespoke only to the Kickstarter backers.

Left-Handed Branded specializes in high-function clothing with utility and durability as it’s primary inspiration. We are also inspired by natural fibers and sustainable fabrics. Q: Isn't it just a leather saddlebag?
A: No. Unless you go back 140 years, you will not find these in stores. These are also not designed to carry ammunition either. 11.5" Welt Pockets are designed to house your modern accessories and keep them safely contained while you walk or ride.
Q: Why are they so cheap?
A: Thank you for noticing. For a product made of high quality full-grain leather and made in the U.S.ofA., we have decided to offer you our wholesale price because you are early adopters on Kickstarter. Q. Do you get high on your own supply?
A. Hell Yeah! We have been riding/wearing The Mula for years in the development of this high-function/high-fashion product. We are very happy with The Mula's evolution. We think it is ready for the streets!
Q. Why make it in the US?
A. Everything in this product is handmade, sourced locally in Michigan and manufactured in Detroit. We believe firmly that as we are in Detroit we need to be supporting the local community as well as national suppliers. Therefore we have designed a bag that can be fully manufactured and sourced here locally in the USA. Help us reignite American manufacturing in the city of Detroit.
Q. Why Kickstarter?
A. We are building out our production. To help, er, kickstart, this project. We have had a great response from retailers but we need to increase the production to meet the needs. We are therefore reaching out to the kickstarter community with a great offer to help us build the volume we need to secure the larger production pipeline.
Q. Is it uncomfortable to carry?
A. By distributing the weight on your front and back, you can load The Mula up and still carry with ease. We have developed a unique armhole that not only provides additional security when carrying the Mula around - as the armhole firmly attaches the bag to your body, but also provides greater stabilization and therefore comfort. The armhole technology also doubles as an easy carry omni-handle for one handed use. Suitable for right-handers as well as lefties!
Q. Is it waterproof?
A. Currently it has multiple layers of water resistant fabrics. Even The Mula's funky fabric pocket lining is coated and waterproof. Easy to wipe out too if you take it to the farmer's market.

Risks and challenges
The Risk or Challenge is the time these will take to produce. Producing anything at high-volume poses a number of problems. With that said we're not starting from square one. We have made a large number of samples and we are already in discussion with a well known local cut and sew manufacturer for the auto industry about producing in volume. We are confident that we will ship you your bag that will exceed all your expectations. We believe in transparency and communication, so our backers will be the first to know about any unplanned hurdles or delays.

If you do not confirm your shipping and pledge details within 10 weeks of our notification via email to confirm it will be treated as abandoned. We will however look at each case sympathetically and try our best to satisfy each customer.
By pledging on this Kickstarter you agree that our responsibility to you is for shipping your order as entered into the pledge management system. You are responsible for import or other duties that may be payable to relevant tax authorities. You also accept that you are fully liable for incorrect shipping details and will risk your pledge being unable to be delivered or lost in transit.
We are unable to ship to PO Boxes.
