About this project
In our society young people are often caught between their desire to reach their dreams, and external pressures from family, friends or school teachers, seeking to get them 'back on track'. In order to make them laugh, to encourage asking the right questions of themselves, and above all to show that they are not alone, I decided to create Entrepreneurz.
Entrepreneurz is the world's first humorous comic book about entrepreneurship and self improvement.
It recounts the adventures of two young entrepreneurs for whom nothing seems impossible. They represent the younger generation of risk takers, who seek freedom rather than security, and especially, who want to create their own path.
Entrepreneurz is realistic but funny, with a totally offbeat sense of humor.
The book has already been published in France, my country of origin. It now requires your help to be translated, adapted, and published in the United States. Let's spread the entrepreneurial mindset together!
What is your vision of entrepreneurship?
Entrepreneurship is, like traveling, one of the last great adventures of the 21st Century. It's a way of seeing life and the role you play in it. It's an inner desire to build yourself a different path.
Beyond that, Entrepreneurs often share common characteristics: they prefer freedom over safety, they want to leave behind proof of their time on Earth, and they don't like having to ask for permission. All of these traits, and others, are taken to the extreme by the two main characters in the book.
Entrepreneurs also have to deal with a lot of personal and social challenges, such as relationships with family and friends. Choosing your own path isn't easy for others to understand. So entrepreneurs can experience very contradictory emotions in a short period of time.
What are your inspirations?
Most of the pages are directly inspired by the field of entrepreneurship, and some come from real situations experienced by myself or other entrepreneurs.
Beyond that, I really like self improvement and success related books. I think this is quite obvious when you read Entrepreneurz. In a sense, you can read the comic two ways: on one hand you can read it quickly and just enjoy the jokes. On the other hand, if you carefully analyze each page, you'll notice many positive messages and ideas for personal development hidden within.
Authors with a more targeted approach to entrepreneurship also inspire me. When I heard Guy Kawasaki talk about such concepts as 'bozos', or comparing venture capitalism to steroids, I immediately recognized my own philosophy in his words.
Who is the team ?
The title of this volume is The Unconventional Path, so I wanted everything, even the team to be extraordinary. And it couldn't be more international! The artist, David, is Australian; the colorist, Itsumi, is Japanese; the translator, Katherine, is American, and I am French. Some of us haven't even met the others, but we've worked successfully together from all over the world.
Who could enjoy the book ?
The book has a wide range of potential readers, for two reasons: first, America is a country made by entrepreneurs and on the strength of entrepreneurship, but this kind of comic has never been available in the US before.
Second, the book can also be useful for university students as an innovative way of demonstrating the entrepreneur mindset. The French version of Volume 1 has already been successfully used by a number of universities and business colleges in France. Many business conferences and seminars, or organizations promoting business creation will find points of interest in Entrepreneurz too.
In France the book immediately received a warm welcome by entrepreneurs and was widely covered by media.
What is the money for ?
It requires a large amount of money to translate this book to English and adapt it for the international market. If we successfully fund the project most of the money will go towards translation costs, new artwork exclusive to the English language edition and of course printing the book. If the project is funded beyond expectations, I'll use the money to visit the United States to participate in Entrepreneurship events and comic conventions to meet our readers.
Thank you in advance for your interest! I hope you’ll join the team and help us spread the entrepreneurial mindset!
