CARL WILL DONATE 20% OF EVERY DOLLAR RAISED BEYOND OUR FUNDING GOAL TO THE MEMORIAL FUNDS OF THE FAMILIES AFFECTED BY THE RECENT TRAGEDIES IN OREGON AND CONNECTICUT.
What is "Carl in the Morning"?
In November 2012, Portland, Oregon, lost its only progressive radio station, AM 620 KPOJ. For six years, KPOJ's local drive time show, "Carl in the Morning", was a fixture for liberals in the Northwest and beyond. When Clear Channel decided to pull the plug on KPOJ, an essential progressive voice was silenced. But, the listeners' voices were heard loud and clear. Within two weeks, the "Save KPOJ" petition had over 15,000 signatures.
With your help, "Carl in the Morning" will return on President Obama's Inauguration Day, January 21, 2013. The two hour live show will broadcast weekday mornings from 7AM-9AM PST via streaming radio on any internet enabled device and available on Podcast. Enjoy the same guests, callers and features you've started your day with for the past six years.
How will the funds be used?
Even though we won't have the overhead costs of a broadcast radio station, offering a premium online talk show will be expensive. Here are some ways we plan to spend the funds that are raised, should we meet our goal:
-Online hosting/server bandwidth
Once the funding goal is reached, should I still donate?
It is very common for Kickstarter campaigns to far exceed their funding goal, sometimes by as much as 300% or more. In addition to receiving exclusive rewards for your donations, money raised beyond our goal will go toward keeping Carl on-air and providing an even higher quality internet show.
Carl will also donate 20% of every dollar raised beyond the funding goal to the memorial funds of the families affected by the recent tragedies in Clackamas, Oregon and Newtown, Connecticut.
How simple is it to fund this project?
Funding through Kickstarter is safe, secure and simple. Kickstarter uses Amazon Marketplace so if you've ever purchased something through Amazon.com you're just a couple clicks away. If not, it only takes a couple minutes to get registered.
