Crowd sourced - crowd funded
Help us kickstart a new type of fashion company!
We need your help to get our first SS17 collection on the marked – your support will also help the 13 up-coming design talents behind our first collection and you will get our fist cool styles at a great Kickstarter price!
Less may be more when it comes to design – but more is definitely more when it comes to people
Schulz by Crowd is unique in the way that multiple freelance designers design our collections. When everyone is allowed to focus on what they do best, we are able to create a company with more POWER.
It can be difficult for a young talent to get his or her designs on the market. The process from the initial sketch to final product is long and hard. At Schulz by Crowd, designers get access to an entire production system and all our knowhow.
This way they get a chance to get their designs on the market, and we, on our hand, have a massive talent pool to choose from. With every new collection, we let new designers shine.
What do the designers get in return for their designs?
If their design is chosen to be featured in the collection, they get an up-front payment and besides this, they receive royalty for each item that we sell. On every style there is a small bio of the designer and a drawing of him or her. Our name ‘Schulz by Crowd’ is on the tag, but the designers get their name on the neckhanger. It’s a great way to help new design talents get their name out. It’s a win-win for everyone.
How are your collections made?
Each of our collections is designed by a crowd of designers (right now we count 78 designers), all participating in our online community, which is a virtual designer portal where they get inspiration from us and each other. For every collection we choose the designs, we think, fit that particular collection the best.
What is crowd sourced fashion?
Schulz by Crowd is crowd sourced fashion, which means that we have outsourced assignments to a crowd of people. It is called a disrupted business model, where the value chain is divided into smaller parts, letting every person involved do what he or she does best, and use their skills the best way.
Do you focus on sustainability in the collections?
Yes! We focus on sustainability in every link of the production chain, from finding the right suppliers to using organic or sustainable products wherever we can. We have a really strict Code of Conduct that every supplier must sign and all of our jersey styles in our basic collection are made of GOTS certified organic cotton.
Additionally, we, as a company, have been GOTS certified, which means that there is a strict set of rules that we must comply with regarding everything from working environment to salaries.
How do you ensure your brand identity in your collections?
We lean on the long renowned Danish design tradition, and our overall brand identity follows the Nordic silhouette. Our design has a clean, simplistic Scandinavian chic feel to it, and we work with the contrast between the masculine and feminine. We often incorporate clean Nordic style prints in our design.
For every collection we make guidelines regarding colors and fabric, and we create mood boards and give the designers an inspirational sentence – in our summer 2017 collection, the sentence was ‘Boy meets girl on warm summer day’. The designers use this as inspiration and come up with great designs that we create our collection from.
