Emerging from hibernation
Hello backers, long time no see! I thought you might like an update.
I'll give you a detailed update once the first beta build is available (in about 2-3 weeks?), but here's the current game at a glance.
So where's that gamedev at?
A bunch of stuff has been implemented!
- Instead of a dense list, the Agenda system has been expanded into its own window.
- Instead of clicking a single button to transfer your mind into a new body, you now need to grow the body from a fetus in a tank over several years.
- It's now easier to push nations into chaos, so the endgame doesn't take forever.
- There are some new UI features which should make the user experience smoother.
There's other stuff too, but those are the main points.
Why haven't you sent out backer surveys?
Nobody's asked this, but I think it's worth answering. I wanted to focus on new features for the first beta build, because I wanted to give testers something to chew on. I didn't want to just release a slightly souped up version of the Kickstarter demo. Plus, the longer the €19-tier-and-above backers have to test my new features, the better those features will become.
However, once I've released this build I'll start focusing on fulfilling my KS pledges, so expect some backer surveys in late February or March.
So what's next?
Well, I still have to finish up this build (some tutorials are messed up by the new features, for instance) and release it to beta backers. I need to sort out a place for beta backers to discuss the game (either using Discord, or with itch.io's in-house forum system).
Once that's out the way I'll send out backer surveys and start fulfilling rewards, then start work on the next build.
If you're a beta backer, expect the new build in about 2-3 weeks! I'll also post a more detailed update then, so all of you guys can see the new features in detail if you like.
