"OUR VOICE" - the voices of the children singing a word of inspiration for young and old alike to enjoy!
When children speak, they have a unique ability to impact our hearts with their purity.
We are reaching out to you the many supporters of Kickstarter, music lovers, art supporters, entreprenuers, and big-hearted individuals to help us fund a CD project for the children. The CDs will be sold at their big regional Camp Meeting in June 2013 in an effort to maintain the music initiatives in their church forever.
Kickstarter Goal - $6848
We've already been collecting funds for the production, replication, and marketing of the CD. Many have given lots of time, money, and effort to get to this point. To name a few:
- Parents and Youth Directors - $2850
- Pima County has pledged - $930
- Kevin and Tanishia Hamilton - $3500
Will you help us get over the finish line?
Our goal of $6848 breaks down accordingly:
- Studio recording, session musicians, mixing and mastering - $5000
- CD replication and digital download capabilities - $1200
- Marketing Assets (i.e. graphic design, website, printing) - $648
How it all started
We are Kevin and Tanishia Hamilton - co-founders of Garden Youth Development Project. We develop programs for community youth ages 0 - 17 to teach life skills and subjects of academia through performing arts based projects. Our vision is to create harmonious communities and fearless citizens through the performing arts.
In 2011 we met Adriana. She is the youth director for grade school children for her church - Tucson Spanish Central Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church. She wanted to make a difference in her church through the youth...through music. We had a divine meeting with her, we learned of her vision, bought in, and began to use our resources to assist.
We learned that many of the children had not been in a choir. Music was being or had been removed from their schools and others simply had not been exposed due to financial, location, and time constraints.
The Children's Growth
Since that initial 'divine' meeting with Adriana and working with the kids for over a year, they've performed various multi-media productions. The first production was an ADRA inspired program where the youth learned about various countries and cultures. The children learned songs in 5 different languages, showed teamwork, determination, hardwork, and confidence, all while having fun with their friends.
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a program initiated by the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church.
The kids brought the 10 countries to life with costumes, songs, and video. The children did an amazing job with the production AND it can be yours depending on your giving level.
For the 2012 holiday season the children performed a musical play. The children began working on their musical and later learned that their performance would be cancelled. The children communicated to their parents how hard they had worked and insisted the show MUST go on. The children performed an original multi-media production and musical about 'sharing'; a life skill the kids had fun learning.
We know and understand the impact that the arts have on young people; but the residual impact that the children are having on their parents and their church has been major. Take a look at the video to see what I mean.
Our Gifts to You
As tokens of our appreciation for contributing to our campaign we have calendars of the kids, signed posters from the kids, copies of the CD you are helping fund, digital downloads, even Executive Producer status on the project and live performances.
Risks and challenges
The kids have already been preparing to sing in the studio and the original music is being written as we speak. Our only challenge now is funding to complete the CD and get it packaged in time for the big performance in June.
We also run the risk of disappointing the kids who've worked so hard to get to this point. We know a Kickstarter Campaign is all or nothing, but we believe the kids are worth the risk. They deserve it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
