In 2000, with the help of John D. (Rennlist) and Travis O. (Rennbay) I successfully launched P-CarOnline with the hopes of becoming the best single-source online registry for Porsche owners. As things took shape, it morphed into more of a social media website (before social media was a thing) for Porsche owners. You could share pictures of your cars, send messages to each other, and easily maintain your own "P-Car Profile" (what amounts to a Facebook page for your car before Facebook was a thing). I had a few early supporters to the tune of a dollar or two a month in support money. The site did not pay for itself, but eventually I was able to sell a few ads to small businesses from Rennlist.
Jump ahead a few years. I decided to join the U.S. Military, and while at basic the server which P-CarOnline was on completely crashed. We lost everything.
At that time, I did not have the time or desire to rebuild it from scratch. Things had changed, prices of server-side software for running such a website had gone up, and my life had other priorities requiring my undivided attention.
It's now 2015, I have a wife, son, and another son on the way. Life has only become more busy, but after being active on Rennlist for the last 15 years, I decided I wanted to try to bring P-CarOnline back!
This time I need some financial support to do it right, and ensure it lasts.
Thanks in advance for any dollar you are able to share to get this great resource back up.
Risks and challenges
The risk for this project is mainly time and money. I cannot justify the hundreds of dollars I will need to spend to make sure this website is done right, out of my own personal finances. This is not a business, it never was meant to be. It was always just a project.
That is why I need your help. I can devote the time required to make this website a reality, I just don't have the cash to do so.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
