What is home? Is it a house? Is it a feeling? Is it you?
For some, home is a word that carries with it connotations of comfort, safety and peace. A place for you to fully relax, so profoundly familiar that you don’t even notice it. For others, home is a desire to belong, a longing to reside fully in your body, a life long search to find where you are supposed to be.
How do you create home for yourself? How can you take the feeling with you, even when you leave the structure you reside?
For the first time ever, the dancers of The Schiff Dance Collective, under the guidance of Artistic Director Jenny Schiff, will fully choreograph and assist in producing an evening length show. HOME will premiere February 17th and 18th, 2017 at The Cleo Parker Robinson Theatre in Denver, CO. Please join us in finding what so many people feel is missing in their lives...
How do I get involved?
Your tax-deductible donation allows this dance to come to life and the voice of the community to be heard by helping us pay for theater rental, costumes, and artists' stipends.
The Schiff Dance Collective is a contemporary dance company with a commitment to inspire and enlighten the public through the beauty of dance; while upholding the foundation, artistry, and heritage of this powerful movement art.
We include, create, and support a community of artists-regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic class-giving them an opportunity to find their power through creativity and a medium for their voice to be heard.
We are carried by our collective force to a place where we can be free: where we can share, where we can live, where we can heal, where we can dance.
Since 2006, The Schiff Dance Collective (TSDC) has been engaging audiences and students throughout Colorado with both their cutting edge contemporary dance works and exceptional dance classes. The concept of infusing dance with humanity in order to successfully speak to the issues at the heart of the public is what drives the work created and classes taught by TSDC.
Since its inception, TSDC has created 11 original evening length works covering subjects such as: addiction, following ones waking dreams, body image, grief, loneliness, and breaking free of ones personal prison. Each concert is based on personal stories collected by TSDC from company members and the Boulder/Denver community. These concerts have engaged thousands of audience members throughout Colorado at The Dairy Center for the Arts, The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theater, Denver School for the Arts, Colorado College, Denver Dance Festival, Shining Stars Foundation, Boulder Creek Festival, Boulder International Fringe Festival, The Mile High Dance Festival, Crested Butte Center for the Arts, the Dance is for Everybody Showcase, and during outreach with the residents of the AIM and Earl houses. Excerpts have also been performed at Boulder Schools including New Vista and Manhattan Middle School.
Support for The Schiff Dance Collective
From Jayne Werle of Presenting Denver’s review - The Human Magic of The Untruth i Wore by The Schiff Dance Collective.
The company really pulled out the stops on the final piece, executing almost frenzied movements. I thought of the intensity of living, of struggle, and the brave vulnerability required to confess, share, and witness that intensity. At several points in the performance, papers were shaken vigorously, as if they were being helped to fly. In a very real way, that is exactly what The Schiff Dance Collective has accomplished with this strong and rawly beautiful work.
From Sam Randall Director CU Collegiate Recover Center
One special note - the talk back afterward was one of the most vulnerable and meaningful that I have experienced with you all. I have such deep respect for each of you. Your movement and your stories have most certainly helped to change someone's life for the better in ways we can't begin to predict.

Risks and challenges
There are risks in all creative endeavors.
We take the process of sharing stories that are important to people and creating work that audiences see themselves in seriously. This is no easy task, but one we take on with enthusiasm. You can be sure that this is a project we are dedicated to seeing through to completion as it is truly the heart of our creative process.
The greatest risk would be that something would interfere with a scheduled performance. The weather will always be a factor in Colorado. We will make sure that all performances can be rescheduled.
We feel confident in our ability to finish this project because we have been successful in doing so for 10 seasons and are well prepared for any conditions that may arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
