Inherit the Earth 2 is the sequel to the adventure video game Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb. For Windows, Mac, iOS and more! Read more

About this project
Inherit the Earth 2 is the sequel to the video game Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb. Like the original, this sequel will be in the adventure genre, where exploration, puzzle-solving and story-telling are the major aspects of the game play.
This sequel will be produced by The Wyrmkeep Entertainment Co. and feature entirely new art, music and story, incorporated with a modern adventure game engine. We expect that a number of the developers that worked on the original game will be involved in developing the sequel.
The game is currently in pre-production. The design is complete* and concept art is being drawn based on the design. One of the original game designers is working on the character dialogue. A prototype of the game engine is being written.
* Except for a couple of puzzles -- see the reward levels for why!
As a backer of the project you will be providing the funds to move the game into production. You will, in some sense, be providing what is needed to create the background artwork, character animation, music, sound effects, voice-overs, and game engine needed to produce a quality game.
We are anticipating a release date of November 2013, with at least one public demo available at an earlier date. The target platforms are Windows, Mac, Linux and iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch). Other platforms and languages other than English may be released later -- see Stretch Goals below.
The game takes place after both the original game and the webcomic story “Little Wolf Lost.” The Morph Tribes of the Known Lands continue their efforts to live with the apparent destruction of the Orb of Storms, a artifact which they once used to predict the weather. There are rumors of the Orb’s survival, but none are credible. Even Rif the Fox, who tried to retrieve the stolen Orb, discounts these rumors. But the arrival of a chieftess’ daughter, with a startling revelation, leads to Rif embarking on a new adventure.
Our base funding level is sufficient to create a game that we believe every fan of Inherit the Earth will enjoy; but with some additional funding, we can double the fun! **
**Amount of fun increase may vary.
Professional Voice Actors
Our current plans are to employ semi-professional and talented amateur actors for the character voices in Inherit the Earth 2. The first stretch goal is to hire professional voice actors for the key characters -- possibly even some reprises their roles from the original game.
More Backstory and Animations
The design for Inherit the Earth 2 concentrates on the important game elements and primary story, all of which will be fully animated. Backstory, though, will be filled-in using dialogue. This stretch goal would mean that backstory (and flashbacks!) would be fully animated.
Android and Video Game Console Versions
We plan to release Inherit the Earth 2 for Windows, Mac, Linux and iOS. We would like to expand the supported platforms to include downloadable versions for other devices, like Android devices and/or game consoles.
The game will be released in English. We will be seeking partners in other countries to create versions for other language. With some additional funding, we could produce releases for other languages ourselves.
Inherit the Earth 3?
We are indeed thinking ahead, and there are preliminary designs for Inherit the Earth 3. If we receive funding beyond all the other stretch goals, then we will start pre-production on the first episode of Inherit the Earth 3 (which we envision as a multi-episode game).
Risks and challenges
We’re fairly sure that the funding goal we have set is sufficient to produce a game we will be proud to release. We also know that video game production is more of an art than a science, so we do have plans to deal with possible issues that might cause delays.
The technologies that will be used in Inherit the Earth 2 are well understood. We have previously developed products for the target platforms. A prototype game engine is already being coded, which should allow us to reveal any possible glitches in the design.
Most importantly, during production we will be seeking additional funding (through pre-orders, etc.) to help cover any unexpected costs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
