Unlike most other reusable coffee cups currently available, Swig is made using 100% food grade silicone rubber and high temperature resistant glass. Liquid silicone rubber’s characteristics and chemical properties make it an ideal material for this design. Liquid silicone rubber parts are also chemically inert, hypoallergenic and resistant to bacteria growth. They also feature high biocompatibility, which is why this material is often used in medical applications.
Swig has been engineered to withstand extremely high temperatures, allowing it to be 100% dishwasher and microwave safe. Thanks to both its materials and intuitive user-centred design, Swig is able to carry even the hottest of hot chocolates without breaking a sweat.

As a practicing Industrial Designer, Blake has extensive experience in developing a wide range of products from concept design to manufacturing and mass production. This includes working collaboratively with a number of international manufacturers to develop products in a variety of industries from medical and mining to consumer goods and leisure products. With a portfolio that includes award winning work, Blake aims to design products that focus on how individuals interact with their everyday world.
Risks and challenges
After the success of our first Kickstarter (The Ice Bandit) we were lucky to learn first hand the potential issues and obstacles that come with creating a new project. We carefully planned the execution of this project and succesfully supplied rewards to over 200 backers, two months earlier than originally planned. The feedback proved to be extremely encouraging and was an excellent result for our first Kickstarter project.
With this said, there are inherent risks with producing any new product. As a practicing product designer, I understand this first hand. To help negate some of the issues that commonly occur with any new product, every stage has been carefully considered. As the tooling has already been produced, the largest cost has already been met. We have spent the past few months going back and forth with our trusted manufacturer, allowing us crucial development time to test the design and ensure that the final product is as we envisioned from the start.
From tooling through to shipping, each stage of the manufacturing process has been factored into the project's budget and timeline . A detailed plan has also been created to outline all costs involved in the execution of the project.
As a fully qualified and currently practising product designer, I base my reputation on my proven ability to provide a quality product in a given timeframe.
