About

What is your book about?

Changing our scientific perspective to better understand stress and energy balancing disorders such as Autism and Obesity.

How do you mean?

So, for example, changing our perspective of how calories are involved in obesity:

Calories would be like the men who build a house. In general they are the most important consideration. However, building a GREAT house depends on more than men. The foundation, the materials, and especially the supervisors make a huge difference when it comes to the quality of the house. The foundation is our microbiome, the materials our vegetables/meats and the supervisors are our hormones and internal regulators. Not taking these into consideration or neglecting them can alter the stability and integrity of the build.

When we lose our stability, stressors from the environment become more stressful. So toxins, pollutants and even emotions become more stressful to us.

In the case of Autism?

Early in life, in the womb or pre-generationally, those with Autism become overly programmed or sensitized by their environment by stress and to stress. They live a life overly sensitized with distinct physiological and neurophysiological compensations. Autisms most likely represents 5 different personalities (genetically engendered information processing and salience prioritizing)  amplified by stress in their own unique ways and with sometimes debilitating trade-offs.

The book and subsequent materials will illustrate the importance of what I describe as "stress mechanisms". The interaction between our genes with our environment. Epigenetics is a new science of this interaction.  It will open up many new avenues for understanding what we think of as disorders and our approaches to them.

This new perspective gives us insights into dietary contradictions.  We each respond and thrive on different diets because of the way we handle stress or the way stress is handling us. A stress perspective will validate many seeming alternative approaches to a healthy diet and help you with a more personalized approach to choosing the  healthy diet right for you.

Who am I?

Almost 10 years ago I experience an extremely trying and perplexing time in my life. I lost the ability to comprehend spoken language. Frightening yes, but I knew there had to be an explanation. I began discovering that my current issues and history of issues were struggles that occur on the Autism Spectrum. These systematic clues are more obvious today but little was known about Autism in my generation.  Previous generations treated autistic kids as oddities and we continue, as adults, trying to survive in a complex world with tremendous disadvantages.

The brain is my "special interest", finding patterns and following the rules of science my passion.

Growing up on the Autism Spectrum gave me great challenges but also great insights into the human brain and body. After getting a clearer picture of what Autisms are, the stress dynamics that play and are involved in its creation, I realized this "Systems Approach" can be applied to most other "stress-related" disorders as well, to which there are many.

Autism, I realized, was not just a model for autism it was a model for all chronic disorders. So i turned my sights on diet, obesity and our issues with weight. And just like with autism, these are issues on a spectrum of outcomes; attempts to protect and rebalance from stress and needing resources.  I was to discover, just like Autism, obesity was also missing a nonlinear stress perspective approach.

The struggles in my life have taught me the precarious relationship food can have with our well-being and how we can use Stress Strategies to make vast improvements in our minds and bodies.

This book will share the experiences of those on the spectrum. As autisms are amplified versions of ourselves, they offer us great insight to information about how stress affects us all.  With this insight we can apply a stress approach to improve performance and resiliency through a cleaner environment, better diet and improved application of exercise. Similar advice, diet and exercise, as many others but for vastly different reasons. Bringing this information and the language of systems stress to bridge the gap in personalizing our solutions.

When funded I will seize the opportunity to interview experts, hire writers and collaborate with professionals.  I will publish my book "When Mayonnaise was a Health Food". And continue to build educational modules for the public and professionals for a "Stress Perspective" approaches to health.

Lowering Our Bar of Resiliency & Increasing our Toxic Exposure via the wrong framework

Fats, Microbes and Sunlight. Fats are fattening, germs are bad and the sun causes cancer. The old paradigm of logic that "if it's bad get rid of it"  may have cause more problems than it attempted to solved.

Fats, Germs (our gut microbiome) and the Sun (nutrient hormones produced from sunlight) all make a difference in our immune systems, neuroprotection and stress regulation.

These factors impact our energy regulation (fat storage), adaptive mechanisms and our behavior. Without the protectors we evolved with, the stress of every day life and exposures can become more stressful.

We essentially have lowered the bar in our ability to handle stress. Our bodies end up finding ways to protect and compensate from these stressors and this typically ends up expressed as various disorders and trade-offs.

Risks and challenges

So far I've done this on my own and with no budget. This is not a project for one person, so not only will I have to collaborate with experts and organizations, but I will need to hire writing help, videography assistance, attract an agent, editor and publisher to make this story come to life and give people the hope and resources they deserve! That we can and will develop better solutions once we have a better guide as the one I've developed. Help me give it a chance!
