How to Play
- English (United States)
- 2 Players (up to 6 Players after expansion)
- 35-45min Minimum Game Play
- Leader Appears - place your Leader closest to you. The Leader will not be able to battle until the army in front of the Leader is defeated.
- Shuffle - shuffle your deck and place your deck face down to your right.
- Army Line Up - draw the top 5 cards from your deck and place them face up in front of your Leader. This is your army, ready for battle.
- Roll Order - both players roll the die. Whoever rolls the highest number goes first. Each turn consists of a Placement Phase and a Battle Phase.
- Placement Phase - if you have an army space open place the next top card from your deck in its place.
- Battle Phase - you may attack twice per turn, but not with the same character. First declare who you're attacking by whom you're attacking with. Roll the die. If the number matches your character's Roll Number, you deal the character's corresponding Attack Number to your opponent's character's Health Points. If not, the attack misses and no damage is dealt. If damage is dealt more than your opponent's character's Health Points, then the character is slain and placed in the Slain Pile. If damage is dealt less than your opponent's character's Health Points, then Health Points are replaced with the correctly numbered Health Point Token.
- Leader's Entrance - Your Leader comes into play when your army is depleted and no Units or Generals stand in front of him. The Leader can now attack, dealing the most damage on the battlefield, but can also be attacked by your opponent.
- Victory - Once your Leader's Health Points reach 0 you lose the battle. If your opponent's Leader's Health Points reach 0 you win the battle
Advanced Battling ^Above is the Basic or Classic Battling. Advanced Battling will be included for players who want to play that option. Advanced Battling will feature Range cards being able to attack anyone in the army. Melee cards will only be able to attack those in front or diagonal of them. You may move a character or swap spots at the cost of losing an attack that turn. Moving is done in Placement Phase. More to be added to Advanced Battling through Stretch Goals.

Classes

Units and Generals make up your army. The Leader is the one you want to protect, until you slay your opponent's leader and win the battle!

Roll Numbers & Attack Numbers

When battling roll the die. If you roll matches your character's Roll Number then you deal the corresponding Attack Number (below the Roll Number). If the Attack Number is higher than your opponent's character's Health Points, then it's Slain and sent to the Slain Pile.

With a successful roll that matches one of your character's Roll Numbers, you deal the corresponding Attack Number below. If the Attack Number is lower than your opponent's character's Health Points, than replace their Health Points with the correctly numbered Health Point Token. In this example^ The Dragon Warrior dealt 2 Attack Damage to the Alliance Griffon, whose Health Points equaled 5. Now its new Health Points would equal 3.
Card Anatomy & Game Components

This is a child's dream coming to fruition. Since I could dream, I was a lover of stories, fantasy, adventure, games, and card games. I was a player of Pokemon, Yu-Gi-oh!, and Magic. All that led to the creation of this game. I originally made the game when I was 8 years old because I remember playing those card games (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-oh!, and Magic) and thinking that they had too many rules. I know my friends and I weren't playing by all the rules, so certainly other kids weren't either. So, I made my own game. I kept what I liked which were characters and battling, but simplified. I wanted any kid anywhere to be able to play and learn the rules quickly, with only cards and a die.
The originals...what started it all.

I played the game with my friends in elementary school and they all liked it. Since then, I kept it in the back of my mind, always curious about making it a real game. So in college (film school), I took my card game with me to see what some artists and 20 something year olds thought about the card game. The result...they loved it! So that's when I knew I had something. After graduation, over 1 year and a half later, Alliance was born! With a whole new story, characters, and design.

Risks and challenges
Of course risks and challenges will come with this project. Not only because I self funded its whole development, but especially because this is my first Kickstarter project. I dove right it and learned all that I could about running a Kickstarter for a Tabletop Game and reached out to gamers in the industry for their insight and experience. I chose Kickstarter because of its community of people, history, and opportunity that is presents to artists. As a filmmaker and artist myself, I understand what goes into creating something. I understand the blood, sweat, and tears for a process that lasts weeks, months, or even years. That's like Alliance The Card Game's process. It all started as a game I made when I was 8 years old and after being tested and liked since 2002, I decided in 2017 to make it a real game. Over 1 and a half years later, Alliance was born with all new characters and design. Kickstarter is the tool to making that dream a reality and you (the backer) are the one to make it all possible.
The biggest challenge will be reaching enough people. We have a successfully tested product, with happy players. Once people can see it, then they're lost in the world of Alliance. By budgeting funds for this fundraiser, I hired a social media management team to spread Alliance to customers. My strategy is a strong online marketing campaign. With this more people will know about Alliance and know where to back it. Community is key and I believe we have that on all the major social media outlets.
On this Kickstarter journey, there will be unforeseen problems I will have to face. I will be fighting the good fight to solve them all and be transparent with all of our backers. This is making a dream come true, and I only want our backers and everyone to enjoy the game as much as others have. Because of this you can expect my true dedication and transparency. If there's anything that you, the backer, needs to know about, I'll update you on it.
I'll be here to hear out any issues and questions, you have about Alliance. My goal is to make Alliance a real game, so that kids and players of any age have fun playing this simplistic game, without having to learn a million rules. This is the Starter Kit, so expect a lot more to come!
