About this project
Care|Mind is the first and only Fitbit compatible iOS app that helps you keep track of your loved ones’ health and alerts you to important changes in their step activity, sleep data, and heart rate. With Care|Mind, you can make sure your family and friends are staying healthy and safe in real-time.
Care|Mind currently works with all Fitbit models, but is designed to work with models that capture heart rate (e.g. Blaze, Surge, Fitbit Charge HR and Charge 2) and provide a complete data profile for your loved ones in our app.
We launched Care|Mind in November 2015 using our own funds. We have a roadmap of exciting features that we want to add to our app that will make tracking family health easier and more insightful -- but we need your help! These features will increase the usability of our app and add new, valuable utility for our caregivers. Our top priorities for new features include:
- The ability to co-monitor, allowing loved ones and caregivers to monitor each other, ensuring both are managing and tracking their health.
- The ability to self-track, allowing individuals to gain insights and track their own data, in addition to their prescriptions and conditions.
- The ability to enter and track daily weight metrics, for both users and their loved ones, to uncover insights about their health over time.
- Expand the reach of Care|Mind to help keep as many families as healthy and protected from avoidable health risks.
Below, find a description of the app today, some of its unique benefits, and some recent press & awards.
The Care|Mind App Experience
Dashboard: Stay informed on the health of your family, anytime and anywhere you are. Know their heart rate, time they work up, last time they moved, the number of steps they've taken, and more.
Activity: Consistent activity is essential to good health. Track your family's step activity and make sure they stay active throughout the day or help them hit a daily step goal to get to a healthier weight or as part of their rehabilitation from an injury or surgery.
Heart Rate: Medications, activity and medical conditions can all affect how your family members' heart performs. With Fitbit models that capture heart rate, know when their heart rate is too low or too high.
Sleep: Insufficient or interrupted sleep puts your family at risk for numerous health risks and could be an early sign of various medical conditions. Know if and when your loved ones aren't getting adequate sleep.
Alerts: Certain medical conditions can begin with subtle changes in activity, heart rate and sleep over time. Set custom alerts to be notified of these changes, if they haven't moved around for a long period of time, if they're sleeping in too late, or if they missed their daily walk.
Health Profile: Keep track of your loved one's health conditions and medications, all in one place, and be alerted to medications that may affect your loved ones’ activity, heart rate and sleep so you are better prepared during an unexpected emergency room visit or when discussing your loved ones’ health with your family physicians.
Charted Data Trends: See how your loved ones’ activity, heart rate and sleep changeover a day, week, month or two months in a format that is easy to read, lets you catch important changes and allows you to share with their healthcare providers.
Benefits of Care|Mind
Easy for everyone to use: Care|Mind uses Fitbit data so once you and your family members have their Fitbits set up, all you have to do is download the Care|Mind app and set up monitor / monitoree accounts.
Financial: Because the Care|Mind app can serve as an early warning system for the onset and progression of certain medical conditions and serious health risks it empowers caregivers to seek out professional healthcare services for their loved ones sooner, rather than later. Many of these conditions are preceded by subtle changes in carees’ activity, sleep, and heart rate well before even the loved one notices something is wrong. With Care|Mind, a caregiver can be alerted to these changes as they are occurring, get their loved ones to their doctor’s office early, before the condition progresses to a point that requires much more costly medical intervention, such as an ER visit and/or hospitalization.
Clinically-oriented: The Care|Mind app is developed using published clinical research showing that changes in activity, heart rate and sleep can be early warning signs of serious medical conditions such as dementia, depression and prostate cancer and/or increase the risk of illnesses and injuries such as infections, inflammatory diseases and falls. These conditions and risks are further exacerbated by the type and number of conditions and medications taken by our loved ones. Care|Mind can serve as an early warning system for caregivers of potential risks to their loved ones’ health and well-being and be a valuable resource to partner with loved ones’ healthcare providers to get their loved ones timely preventative treatment.
