For the last few years I've been reading natural living blogs and slowly transforming my home from "average" to "ecofriendly". The most exciting part for me has been my switch to using cloth. It started slow, with using dish towels more than sponges, then in October of 2010 I ordered my first cloth diapers. That led me to cloth wipes, then cloth napkins and unpaper towels.
In August of 2011 I came up with the idea of This Cloth House. It's not just a business venture for me; I want to educate people about sustainability. I'm especially interested in helping those who are "down on their luck" and looking for ways to cut costs in their household budget. Cloth items for the home don't need to be a big investment, but they can save you big dollars.
In order to start fully bringing the philosophy of This Cloth House to more people, I need some funds to build an initial inventory and develop marketing materials. This will help me truly kick off from being a "hobby business" to something that can change the world, one kitchen at a time.
Each day through the 15 days of this kickstarter project, I'll be posting on my blog about things that inspire me, why I choose to make certain products, and some helpful tips on transforming your home. Join me at thisclothhouse.blogspot.com.
Here's some details on some things I'm planning on having be the centerpieces in This Cloth House!
Did you know that you can save over $200 in the first year just by switching to cloth napkins? That's for the average family of 4. And the whole investment is only in 8 napkins.
Another kitchen item, getting rid of paper towels can save you a ton too! Depending on how many paper towels you use in a day you can save anywhere from $100 (5 paper towels a day) on up!
Coming back into style are aprons! Perfect for keeping your clothes clean and dry, especially if you are a "Take a Bath while washing the dishes" kind of person like me. Every home should have at least two aprons. Cost savings? Well, if you are constantly changing your clothes because you dirty them up while cleaning, you'll save on wear and laundering. I'm planning on making several different styles of aprons.
Thank you SO much for looking at my project. And thank you even more if you choose to back it!
(For shipping purposes, anyone in the US and Canada don't worry about it. If you are in another country, please add the suggested amount to cover additional shipping costs. Thanks!)
