What is I'm Simply a Dad Media?
I've been creating videos Live on Facebook for a few months now, and I would like to create a regular show to air live on Facebook in addition to publishing a bi-weekly podcast.
I've already completed my first episode tentatively titled "I'm SImply a Dad Live". It was a great experience and my guest, Ken Siri told some amazing stories and brought a new perspective to always staying positive and finding happiness through the struggles of life.
My next episode is airing next week 11/21 and will feature Peter Sullivan. He's an EMF expert and we will be discussing how things like cell phones and wifi are impacting our health and our kids.
I have another planned episode with Emily Brown from crunchymamascience.com. In this show, we will discuss having a non toxin home and simple things you can do reduce toxins at home.
These episodes are a good sampling of what you will find from me at I'm Simply a Dad. However, I want to create these shows in a higher quality with crisp sound and a clean clear picture. Funds raised in this campaign will help me deliver this professional quality show and provide helpful, practical content for you.
The Happy Healthy Family Podcast
The Happy Healthy Family (HHF) podcast will be a natural health and wellness podcast for families. It will cover topics like clean eating, diet, non-toxic living, reducing stress, improving sleep, and all things natural health. As a father of a child on the autism spectrum, there will be episodes discussing topics relevant to autism as well.
There will be a special focus on giving parents practical advice on how they can apply the ideas and concepts discussed to their own families.
The HHF podcast will start as a bi-weekly podcast and will run an average of 20-30 minutes. I will bring on guests to discuss relevant topics in a Q & A format. Podcast guests will include experts in various fields. I will also invite real parents like you and me, so we can learn their secrets and hear how they are implementing a healthy lifestyle in their families.
Why Do I Want to Create This Podcast?
Parents have limited time. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to learn new information & ideas without losing any time? With the happy, healthy family podcast you can complete your daily tasks while learning new ideas on natural health and wellness in a fun and relaxed way. The podcast will be hosted in the same transparent and relatable manner my readers have come to expect me.
I’m personally a huge fan of podcasts. I listen to a number of health and wellness podcasts, but unfortunately, the content discussed is not easy for parents to apply with their family. My podcast will fill that gap and provide useful and affordable tips for parents, and help you continue to raise a Happy and Healthy Family.
Who Am I?
My name is Dave Borden. I am a full-time Dad and the writer behind the website ImSimplyaDad.com.
The road to better health, hope, and healing was a bumpy one for me. Today, it's my mission to share my insights and the lessons I learned to help make that road smoother for other parents and families.
When not caring for my family, I'm busy sharing my knowledge and experience with others. In addition to my website, ImSimplyaDad.com, my writing has been published in various places across the web including AutismAwareness.com, TheNaturopathicMama.com, and the Generation Rescue blog. Recently, I had the honor of speaking on a Dad's panel at the Autism Education Summit.
The target for this Kickstarter campaign is $500. This is all I need to make this podcast a reality. This money will cover the cost of a basic microphone ($150) that will allow the podcast to have great audio. It will also cover the cost of a podcast hosting and distribution service for one full year ($200-250). The remaining funds will be spent on editing and recording software.
Stretch Goal #1 $1,000
If I reach my stretch goal of $1,000 it will allow me to purchase higher quality equipment and purchase premium hosting and distribution. It will also cover the cost of hosting a Giveaway/Contest for the podcast's launch. The goal of this contest will be to get listeners to leave a review of the show on iTunes which is critical to ranking high on that platform.
Stretch Goal #2 $1,500 (and beyond)
If we hit $1,500 or more, I will not only purchase upgraded equipment and software, but it will also allow me to hire a graphic designer to create the podcast logo. With enough funding, I could even create high quality video podcasts/shows as well.
All pledges come with my sincerest gratitude!
Risks and challenges
As with any new venture, the risk is getting customers. In my case, helping people find the podcast is the biggest challenge. I plan to host a contest when the podcast launches to encourage people to leave a review on iTunes. The more reviews the higher we'll rank. I will also use my existing social media following and email list to help spread the word.
Learning the technical ins and outs of podcasting will be a minor challenge, but there are plenty of tutorials online should I run into any problems.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
