A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I'm a high school Senior from San Jose, CA. However, I'm not originally from the States. I only moved here two years ago from Slovenia, all the way in Europe.
I've been trained in classical piano since age six and have performed at many national and international festivals. I also played in a piano trio with a cellist and a violinist, danced in a show dance group for nine years which won the world championship, and acted as a supporting lead in the most viewed Slovenian movie, "Gremo mi po svoje" (Going Our Way) and its sequel.
Despite all these, there is nothing more special to me than music and singing. When I sing it feels as though the world stops and I can bare my all, express myself in a way I can't with anything else. I always had a single dream: to become a singer songwriter. However, it took me quite some time to realize that maybe I have a shot. It wasn't until I auditioned for the Slovenian xFactor and got through to the live TV audition that something in me changed. I sang Adele's Make You Feel My Love and it was the first time that someone who has never seen or heard me before praised me for my singing.
I am now actively performing in my VC high school's theatre department and conservatory and was recently seen as The Witch in Into the Woods and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes. I am also studying piano, and working on achieving my Advance Level Certificate of Merit.
I am actively performing, from Christmas in the Park San Jose, to the California Theatre.I am also singing in the VC Conservatory's vocal jazz ensemble, Room 107 which won the Downbeat Award in 2013 and is performing at in and out of state jazz festivals. I wrote and directed my own short musical, #valentinesday, that played in February and vocal directed the spring musical, Little Shop of Horrors. I also teach private piano lessons, am a community service arts teacher at a local public high school, and participate in the 2015 President's Business Challenge.
I was awarded The President's Award for Excellence in piano and theatre, Best Female Newcomer 2013 and Limelight Award for Excellence in the Craft of Acting 2014 awards from VC Theatre. I also won a $2,000 scholarship two years in a row for my singing at the VC Conservatory Honors Recital.
I am currently a part of the Nashville Songwriting Competition, and applied for Grammy Camp Jazz Sessions.
WHY I DECIDED TO DO KICKSTARTER
Besides all my other
activities, my soul is in my original music. I realize that to achieve a good
career in music, I cannot just sit around and wait for someone to
"discover me". I need to take charge of my life, work hard, and be
prepared to never quit in order to get somewhere.
That's why I started this project. I'm already actively working on creating my career - from my music to the marketing behind it.
I feel ready to take the next step and am extremely excited to start a new chapter in my life.
With the $20,000 budget I would be able to:
- hire a producer
- hire professional musicians
- hire studio engineers (mixing + mastering)
- record in a professional music studio
- make CDs
- print album covers
- hire graphical designer for album cover
- record music video for title song "Nomadic Blues"
My wish is to work with one of the producers in LA. It is very important to me that I don't just give these songs to a producer who will complete them without me. I need someone who will be able to understand me and my music and will enable me to be actively involved in the creative process.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
01 Black Soul
02 Put the Gun Down
04 Let Them Eat Cake
05 Nomadic Blues
Nomad is an ode to a restless traveler. It is the intimate diary of an eternal wanderer, not only through the deserts and mountains of the globe, but also through the journey of life. It is a mosaic of moments, and glimpses of emotions manifested in the stories of her. She is a fantasy, tough and spontaneous, with a hunger for the unpredictable and a fearless desire for living for the moments and the details that comprise them. Her story is complex, shaped and molded by the people she meets and wonders she sees. She belongs to everyone and no one. A part of everywhere and nowhere, she is a nomad.
These songs and this album mean a lot to me. I have grown as a person and as a musician through making them. From writing all these songs, to recording the piano and harmonies, and making the videos, all of what you see was created by me at home and in school.
I have discovered parts of me I never thought existed, worked through my feelings and mentality. I have put my heart and soul into it, and to see it grow into a project like this is insane. There is nothing more valuable and intimate to me than my music, and I am grateful that now you are becoming a part of the NOMAD too.
Thank you so much!
Risks and challenges
I have always been a perfectionist. I strive for the best, put my all in what I do, pay attention to detail, and am never afraid of taking on a challenge. Everything I achieved in life required dedication and hard work to get me to where I am today. And this album is no different.
There is one thing I firmly stand behind: nothing is impossible if you truly believe in it and follow your dreams.
This album is my protégé and I will do whatever I possibly can to develop it into something great.
