About this project
The International Trashion Fashion Show features the always whimsical, often outrageous, and sometimes lovely trash couture (made entirely of beach litter) created by American born artist Marina DeBris.
While entertaining audiences, the tour will help Marina to gain exposure and continue creating pieces that help to spur awareness of plastic pollution.
There will be 3 venues for the show. The first will be in Sydney at the EcoXpo on the 12 & 13th of May. There will be 2 live shows and the outfits will also be on display throughout the event. Following that, the show heads to Japan to meet up with 5 Gyres and Pangaea Exploration for the launch of the research expedition through the tsunami debris field. The live show will take place at The Green Room Festival on the 19 & 20th of May. The following Sunday, models will be sporting the outfits at the infamous Harajuku and Yoyogi Park.
The funding amount will be used to cover air travel and shipping costs from Los Angeles to Sydney and Tokyo. Please note that an additional $500 - $1000 to cover accommodation and transportation within Sydney & Tokyo will be needed so please don't stop giving once the goal is reached! And, if you happen to have air miles to donate in lieu of funds please contact Marina. Accommodations in Australia will be provided by friends and models will be donating their time for the cause.
Rewards (l to r): $7 (Pearl Button+Souvenir Card); $12 (ChicoBag); $25 (Set of Pearls Cards or $100 for a 16"x20" Pearls Print); $50 (De Bris Brooch or Ring)
