I love making music, and I would write songs whether or not anyone ever heard them. Songwriting, for me, is a way to process life. My songs tend to be melancholy, but often a playful melody or a hopeful longing will sneak in. I feel very lucky to have found kind people who enjoy the music I make.
By pre-ordering my new album, Almost Satisfied, you will help finance the promotion of the album which will include touring, a world-wide press campaign and a music video. I believe this music should be heard and I am confident you will too.
Black Mark (MP3)
I recorded Almost Satisfied with Jeff Stuart Saltzman, the mastermind behind my Whiskey Priest debut Hungry. Jeff and I invited some friends to help us add layers to each song. Jason Robbins, of The Comforters, played guitar on every track. Joe Harchanko wrote and played cello arrangements that evoke the longing and melancholy of the songs. Rachel Taylor Brown sang harmony vocals and played keys. Paul Brady played piano and otherworldly sounding keys. And James Gregg played trumpet, which I have always wanted to have on an album. Finally, Stan Keightley, Jr. added the finishing touches, in mastering, to make Almost Satisfied my best sounding album yet.
Big Girl Now (MP3)
I asked Mark Fearing to do the art for the album, and Mark created a landscape and characters that evoke the spirit of the album perfectly. Mark graciously agreed to create a limited edition, signed and numbered, print of the album art as a reward for this campaign. He also created three t-shirt designs, using images from the album art, to be used as rewards.
Almost Satisfied will be released by Ravens Flight Records on May 6th. I will be having a release show at Level B Theater Pub in Salem, Oregon. The show is on May 3rd. John Roderick of the Long Winters, and Sean Nelson of Harvey Danger, will be headlining. There are VIP tickets, which include front row seats and access to sound check, available as rewards.
Your contribution to this campaign will make it possible for me to get my music to people who have never heard it. Thank you for your support!
Risks and challenges
The album is finished, and it will be sent to you on or before the release date of 5/6/14. I anticipate shirts and prints being shipped in May, but it could be a bit after that if there are any issues with the printers. I am committed to getting you your items as quickly as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
