Ammon Walker: Soccer superhero manga motion comic book
I want to inspire reading by making narrated motion comics of my soccer superhero that overcomes disability. http://bit.ly/1xO2O6t
This recent Seattle Sounders FC Rave TV piece shows a personal goal to get people excited about reading by tapping into the global passion for soccer with Ammon Walker: “The World’s First Soccer-Hero.
So I'm fundraising to produce and release the 22-page, full-color comic book/manga origin story of Ammon, featured in this Emmy winning Q-13 Fox Sports news segment.
Anything over that funding goal of $11,000 to make printed comics of Ammon goes towards making a narrated, animated and scored motion comic book of Ammon.

Making Ammon's story a personal goal for many reasons. I created Ammon from a desire to play pro soccer for the Seattle Sounders FC, like my Father, USMNT Captain and original NASL Seattle Sounders first round draft pick, David D’Errico, despite me living with cerebral palsy effecting my legs.
That kept me from entering the King 5/Disney Seattle Sounders Super Search contest in 2009, seeking people to tryout for the new Sounders team, yet that contest gave me a great idea for a story of a soccer super hero I’d been developing since 1998.
After taking an online writing workshop from Stan Lee in 2008, I applied his wisdom and found a local mentor in Paul Chadwick, comic book writer/artist and creator of "Concrete" for Dark Horse Comics.
So, my goal is to achieve that by inspiring others to read with Ammon’s narrated, animated and scored soccer adventures.
Especially after overcoming a learning disability with the Rebus Reading program that combines images, text, and narration to aid in comprehension, as well as reading comics.
Now that Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame DJ, former NASL Seattle Sounders co-owner and long time supporter, Northwest radio legend Pat O’Day has offered to narrate Ammon's story, I’m even more grateful and excited to get the story made.
Fantasy illustrator, Addison Rankin, has also joined me in bringing Ammon’s adventures to life after he was selected as the winning artist of a global invite I hosted at Talenthouse, seeking artists to draw Ammon’s origin story in 2013.
Ammon’s story takes place in a future world, centered in Seattle where he’s a recently graduated medical student living with cerebral palsy. He gains superpowers in his search for a cure. Ammon uses his new-found powers to join the same Seattle soccer team that his Father played for, fighting for the freedom of humanity as a champion soccer gladiator.
One of the things that makes Ammon unique is that his never before seen super powers are accessed by getting in to a “flow state” of total focus, a trait shared by all great athletes.
It’s my hope that Ammon will inspire many others to “go with the flow” and develop the best in themselves by turning challenges into triumphs.
Funding has been a challenge after I was accidentally hit by a truck in 2011 and have been unable to do paid work since. So I’m reaching out to supporters on Kickstarter to help make this goal a reality.

Risks and challenges
I've kept at this project since I first had the idea for Ammon in 1998, despite health and funding challenges.
Also, being a perfectionist does sometimes cause slow downs in progress with writing and art. Yet I'll do my best to produce inspired and uplifting work in a high quality and timely manner.
