Blasting past $150k! Stretch Goal #2: Random Track Generation
With the aid of a $10,000 backer (another arcade cabinet!), we just blew past our first stretch goal of $150k! That means that we'll now be including full Replay/Spectate modes with all of the fancy features listed in Update #14!
On top of that, we're already at $154,333 on Kickstarter and $1,786 on PayPal, putting us at $156,119 all together!
Stretch Goal #2: Random Track Generation
One thing that was experimented with in Nitronic Rush was random track generation, where at the click of a button a completely fresh track would be created each time. Obstacles, ramps, road pieces, environment models, etc. would be placed in a unique way that makes sense for the progression of the track. Unfortunately it never shipped with the game due to time constraints to finish everything, but we want to expand on that idea in Distance!
If we reach $165,000 by the end of the time limit today, the Random Track Generation Mode would allow you to create a vast number of unique tracks after providing a few parameters to tweak the overall type of track being generated. You can share specific seeds with your friends as well so that they can play tracks that you discovered!
Increasing your pledge also helps to reach the goal, so remember that this will be your last chance to do so!
PayPal Time Limit
Since we were only able to allow PayPal users a couple days to get their pledges in, we'll be extending the time limit for PayPal for 3 days after the campaign until 7pm PST on Monday, November 19th.
Since it won't be up for long make sure to get those pledges in ASAP. Also, pledges made after the Kickstarter goal unfortunately won't be counting towards stretch goals, so do your best to make sure those get in in today!

Another reminder for today's Live Stream
In a few hours we'll be streaming the last few hours of the campaign from 4-7pm PST / 7-10pm EST / 12-3am GMT! We'll be doing some fun events, so come check it out then and watch to see if we hit stretch goal #2!

Thanks again for continuing to push forward, we can't wait to see what happens in the final hours!

I agree with "S.D., Lucky #13" I really hope you will still allow the stretch goals to build up, after the end of the kickstarter... You might recieve a lot of paypal pledges :)
Creator Steviedoors on November 16, 2012
Agree with Steven. Though maybe there's a chance they'll add it in later if the game's successful...

Hm. Why cap off stretch goal contributions after closing the KS? Nearly every project I've backed gives international backers a solid month after learning that the PayPal came open (the opportunity for at least one full pay cycle, since some workers are paid monthly instead of biweekly). PayPal pledges tend to trickle in at a steady rate over the course of 2-4 weeks, not in a rush like Kickstarter. Rather than causing a rush, you're likely to lose people who just forgot for a week :-)
If you're concerned about how your backers feel about it (for fairness), please consider polling us after the Kickstarter closes. There will be no hard feelings in changing your mind if the reason is driven by data, and sentiment of your backers! I suspect that we'll all be pretty sympathetic to (mostly European) non-credit-card holders, and want the stretch goal enough to be OK with permitting backer-exclusive goodies to be offered to "slacker backers" (as Double Fine Production called their late PayPal backers!).

Awesome, far far far far far too many racing games don't have replays anymore.
I always liked watching back when I had a particularly good race.
So great that we get that in there now.
Random track generation could be awesome, I still remember some of the bastard offspring that resulted from the F-Zero X track generator.
I assume you'll be taking into account paypal pledges to the stretch goals?
so theres a chance to reach 165 even if the kickstarter doesnt actually get there itself?
Creator Steven Tiberius Metcalf on November 16, 2012
Lol they shouldn't even have posted that stretch goal, now the game is going to feel like it has something missing without it.
Creator GantzZero on November 16, 2012
Random Track Generation would've been amazing.
Infinite replayability. I just can't see 10k materializing in the next few hours.
Creator Kyle Holland on November 16, 2012
10k in five hours? Don't see it happening. Shame, too. I remember when F-Zero X did the random track thing, and it was fantastic.
Creator Rituro on November 16, 2012
Oh my goodness. Random track generation?! Eeee! Shades of classic DOS racer "Lotus" ...

Definately going to watch the livestream! I've shared this kickstarter on yt etc. and showed NR while talking about distance in school. You deserve everything you can get, let's make this a nice ending for the kickstarter :)
