$80,000! Parkour Action Gameplay Video #2, Even More Music, and Dev Diary

Hi again!

We're now 6 days away from the end, and excitement has been continuously building. We've had a great past couple days, largely due to all of your outreach efforts, so thanks again for keeping the fire alive! Sorry for not posting this earlier, as Jordan hadn't slept in 2 days to finish the video and we were held up by a last minute chance to use a special vehicle for our next in-person video!

Pre-Alpha Gameplay #2: Parkour Action

We just released the latest gameplay trailer for Distance to show off the parkour, platforming-like elements of the car, as well as a new obstacle we're experimenting with.

You can UPVOTE Reddit posts here (thanks DarthSatoris, Sharrage):, which will help a lot to keep things pushing through the weekend.

More music

You can listen to the music used in the latest trailer, or download it in MP3 or FLAC (right click and "Save Link As..."):

Since the music is FREE, make sure to share it with anyone you think would enjoy it!

Dev diary

We just hit $80,000, which helps a lot in preparation for intense final countdown. As I mentioned earlier, Kyle, Jason, and couple friends helped to record the next video update today. We had a unique opportunity to use a special vehicle for the video, so we can't wait to see what you think of it. You can see a screenshot of what we have so far here:

We haven't mentioned Steam Greenlight recently since we started to see confused comments about whether the campaign was about voting or backing the project. In any case, we're still moving up (currently #41) and a few people let us know that getting more votes helps the game to pop up in more people's queues. If you haven't already, please give Distance a "Yes" here:

We had some luck with press as well over the past couple days, which also helped a bit to keep the momentum up. Some interviews we did were in the mix as well, so check them out to learn more about thoughts on Distance and going forward in the racing genre. Also, if you see a press article pop up this week, make sure to share and post a comment on the page. It helps a lot to show excitement about the game and show writers that we there's interest in articles about Distance.

Aside from the new video a strike team has assembled to help us through the final hours, and they've been incredibly helpful so far. We'll continue press outreach throughout the week and bring you content as we have it. Here's the latest links:

      Hello there. I posted a while back about how to get this game funded. But now (woot woot!) someone went for the 10k pledge, and that changes stats completely! In my earlier post, I stated that if everyone below the 50$ tier upgraded to that pledge, disrance would have 133,000$ in funding. But now times have changed. Here we're the stats from 2 days ago:

      1. If everyone were to upgrade from 15$ to the 35$ pack to get the super cool backer vehicle, the project would be at 100,655$, which is 80% of the required funding.
      2. If the 392 backers (including me) from the 25$ stack were to upgrade to the 35$ tier, that would be a net gain of 3,920$.
      3. But here's the heart-stopper. The current sum of the 15$ backers is 17,235$. If everyone (me included) below the 50$ tier were to upgrade to that pledge, the total net gain would be:
      15$->50$ = 40,215$+
      25$->50$ = 9,800$+
      30$->50$ = 1,800$+
      35$->50$ = 3,705$+
      That would bring the funding to 133,295$!

      But now times have changed

      1. At the 4 day mark, there's only 27,598$ to go. That's 6,899.5$ a day!
      2. If only the 15$ backers were to upgrade to the 35$ tier, the net gain would be 26,180$, which would put the campaign right on top of its goal with only 1,418$ to go!
      3. Assuming only 10,000$ worth of new backers (which is totally an understatement), if all current pledgers below 50$ were to upgrade one tier higher (a mere ten bucks for the sake of awesome), the turnout would be:

      New backers -> 10,000$+
      15$->25$ = 13,090$+
      25$->30$ = 2,165$+
      30$->35$ = 515$+
      35$->50$ = 5,040$+

      For a total of 30,810$, which means only 7,000 dollars of new backers are needed over four days!

      Who's up for the "up a tier" challenge? I'm definitely going to upgrade my 25$ pledge. It's only a 15$ bump at most. Heck, I'm even going to go for the 35$ tier if not the 50$! Whoever believes this game is worth another 10 bucks say I!

      Remember to post to your favorite forum and promote this title, we can still so do this!

      Man I hope this Kickstarter reaches its goal, I loved Nitronic Rush and adding split-screen multiplayer to that experience is definitely a success to me. Let's hope the pledges pick up steam in the next five days!

      @Alex, they Confirmed they will add detail to the bottom of the car. The game is currently prealpha and they are focusing currently on the kickstarter

      This may seem a little over critical but the bladness of the bottom of the car annoys me. Id like to see more detail there but other than thhat, Great Work! (lightning is awesome too, I hope to see more obstacles in the final release) :D

      New alpha footage looks cool.
      Know it's alpha, but would their be more detail at the bottom of the car? Especially since parkour is something you advertise having some details at the bottom might be nice.

      Also what happens when your car flips or if you die halfway through a flying section?
