What's Coming Up Next, New Music, and Gameplay Video Teaser

Hey again! We just hit $70,000, so thanks again to everyone that bumped up their pledge, shared the project offline and online, and kept pushing us forward.

If you're a new backer, thanks for joining on and showing your support! Also, thanks to those that came out and had fun with me on Reddit this week. I pretty much completely burned out my voice in the process but it was pretty entertaining.

Upcoming Updates

I figured that we're not doing the best job of explaining what we're doing right now and what's coming up next, so here's what's up. For the most part there's only the three of us handling interviews, emails, social media, PR, videos, etc, and we've been spending every second of every day getting the word out to press and fans of Nitronic Rush via email and social networking.

It's helped a bit, but it seems much less effective than any of you personally contacting press about your excitement over the game or sharing it with friends. For example, our top referrers have been Facebook, Reddit, Nitronic-Rush.com, Google, and Twitter, so we've realized that it's been a really socially-driven event thus far.

Anyways, we have several videos in development now and we'll be continually releasing them as soon as humanly possible . One of them is a new gameplay video showing the parkour/exploration elements of the game and some other cool surprises (teaser screenshot above). We're also doing a few live action videos which should be fun. I'll post them as soon as we have them uploaded.

We'll be posting something at least once a day to get as much sharable content out as possible, on top of continually reaching out to everyone. The best thing you can do is to keep sharing the new content with your friends, and send it to press who you think would be interested in it. For example...

New Music!

This is the first concept music piece I did for Distance a few months back, mostly to help establish the tone and emotion for the game. The city is dark and dystopian, and long before we had concept art to show what it would visually look like I wanted to see what it felt like musically. 

I've been really drawn to atmospheric music ever since working on Solstice and The Fourth Wall, so I wanted to try bringing in some of those feelings of mystery into Distance. As usual let me know what you think!

TotalBiscuit

This is mentioned a bunch so I want to bring it up. We have talked with TotalBiscuit, but unfortunately he will not be doing interviews anymore outside of a WTF Is...? episode, which requires a significant amount gameplay footage from a playable build. We worked for a while on getting the game to the point where it would meet his standards, but it was taking too long.

We decided that it would just be better to focus that effort into other things like a new gameplay video and continual outreach to other press. We will however recommend the game for his new show "Content Patch", and I recommend you do the same!

Going Forward

I do believe that where there's a will there's a way, and we will do what it takes for this Kickstarter to succeed, not only because we're intensely passionate about the project but because you are too! Thanks for the continual ideas, suggestions, and outreach. Up to the last nanosecond, we're not giving up and we'll keep pushing.

      Hello, everyone. I am a backer of this awesome project. I've been checking the site nearly every day since the project launch, and I am interested in the ways we can get this project funded. Here are some cold-cut facts:

      1. If everyone were to upgrade from 15$ to the 35$ pack to get the super cool backer vehicle, the project would be at 100,655$, which is 80% of the required funding.

      2. If the 392 backers (including me) from the 25$ stack were to upgrade to the 35$ tier, that would be a net gain of 3,920$.

      3. But here's the heart-stopper. The current sum of the 15$ backers is 17,235$. If everyone (me included) below the 50$ tier were to upgrade to that pledge, the total net gain would be:
      15$->50$ = 40,215$+
      25$->50$ = 9,800$+
      30$->50$ = 1,800$+
      35$->50$ = 3,705$+

      That would bring the funding to 133,295$!

      Think about it. Do you want this project funded? I know I do! 50 bucks is as much as you pay for a AAA game. This game is as AAA a game as any! I mean, look at the pre-alpha footage. That is not what your average game looks like in Pre-Alpha. Plus you get the benefits of pre-released beta, 2 copies of a professional game, two backer vehicles, the exceptional soundtrack, and the awesome digital art-book! I'm definitely upping my pledge, and I encourage you to do the same. Thank you for your attention.

      I hope you guys can get across the line with this outstanding game.

      I'd second adding smaller targets below $15 to make it obvious to casual visitors there isn't a minimum commitment. Digital rewards like tracks & wallpapers at the low end give something to the backer without requiring any financial outlay on your part, so they're a gimme for you.

      However, in the (hopefully unlikely!) event you don't make your goal, don't lose heart.

      If your funding period was a little longer (was that an option?) you'd hit it handily regardless.

      And you're allowed to try again, so if it came down to a campaign relaunch, you could make some small adjustments that ought to get you funded. Plus, you might have time to get that playable build to TotalBiscuit, which would give you a big publicity boost...

      I think a $2 tier with maybe a song and couple wallpapers would be a good choice. A lot of people want to support but don't want to give for nothing at all with a custom pledge and don't have $15 to give.

      That's the spirit! You can't really do more than everything, every day... but it's great to show your backers how committed you are!
      (BTW, if you do choose to add a "every dollar counts, thanks for supporting Distance" kind of tier, as Jose suggests below, I suggest throwing in a digital mobile/desktop wallpaper or two; they're a neat, low-cost "thank you", and are fantastic free advertising).
