If you missed out on the Vacuum Insulated Magnetic Sidewinder Project here on Kickstarter, no problem. You can continue to order bottles and cups over on the Liquid Hardware web site HERE
Like many of us, I enjoy my iced drinks cold and my hot drinks the temperature I poured them. Enter, the Sidewinder™ Bottle. It keeps you HOT, COLD, and CONNECTED for hours with its vacuum-insulated construction and magnetic tether system. And just how many hours you ask? Well, the double-walled, no sweat, stainless construction keeps HOT drinks hot for 6-8 hours and COLD ones cold for 24. And no mess or aftertaste; this little vessel is made from food-grade stainless steel! Enjoy coffee, tea, juice, protein drinks--or even a microbrew--a quick wash and then segue seamlessly to water.
The Sidewinder is one of the only
Zero BPA™ bottles on the market!
Seriously! No matter what you chose to put in the Sidewinder, whether it's water, juice, energy drink, or beer it will never come in contact with any potentially toxic plastic chemicals found in other bottles. The Sidewinder™ bottle is made with food grade 18/8 stainless, and we have made the lid with BPA free #5 material. To make sure that you and your family stay healthy and safe, we have taken extra precaution and added a one piece silicone seal in the lid ensuring your liquids do not touch plastics. The result is one of the safest bottles available anywhere; ZERO contact with questionable toxic plastics and chemicals. Chose a reward to the right, so you can join the movement to Zero BPA™ in your bottles and cups and be confident your drinks are free of toxic chemicals. Here's to your health!

NEVER LOSE YOUR LID™
New Finish choice added!
If you're like me, you have lost your lid once or twice before and possibly have a drawer full of lid-less bottles. The Sidewinder™ vacuum insulated bottle comes with our US patented and international patent pending magnetic tether system that will help you to Never Lose Your Lid™. Unlike tethers that eventually break and get in the way, or hinges that snap, the Sidewinder's magnetic tether system will never break or wear out- just unthread the Sidewinder's lid and place it close to the stainless collar at the bottle's top and the magnetic tether system automatically connects. I have made many prototypes and spent many years perfecting the pull force between the bottle and the lid, the results are now in a magnetic tether system that is easy enough to remove but also strong enough to withstand everyday knocks and bumps.
All Sidewinder™ bottles come with a silicone over mold on the face of the rare earth magnet that's attached to the lid. The silicone keeps the lid from spinning around when you attach the lid to the Quick Stick Zone™ on the bottle's collar. Additionally, when the lid is threaded onto the bottle and you need a quick place to stash Sidewinder™, simply find some metal and attach it. The patent pending combination of a friction surface on the magnet's face and the magnet's pull force allow the Sidewinder™ to magnetically stick to most metal surfaces when the lid is threaded onto the bottle. This means you can stick your bottle to your refrigerator (as long as it's not stainless), filing cabinet at work, gym equipment when you're working out, playground equipment, dry erase board, tool box or the side of your truck or car. The combination of the pull force of the rare earth magnet and the coefficient of friction from the silcone create a very strong resistance against sliding on metal surfaces.
In a survival situation, lost in the woods for example, you can swipe a piece of metal wire across the face of a magnet and then float the straight magnetized metal wire on a leaf, preferably in a still pool of water, and it will point to magnetic north or south to create an emergency compass. Well, because the Sidewinder™ lid floats you can set it upside down in water, and the lid will point to magnetic north or south helping point your way home. If you have a Liquid Hardware bottle, you will essentially always have an emergency compass with you.
I have designed the Sidewinder™ to be the most reliable, safe and easy to use reusable bottle on the market. The Sidewinder™ is made from food grade 18/8 stainless steel - this is the same stainless used in the dairy, brewing and medical fields. It's easily hand cleaned with soap and water and holds no smell or aftertaste. It's not recommended to put any vacuum insulated container in the dishwasher. The silicone seal on the lid is one piece and is easily removed and cleaned if needed. The Sidewinder's lid is #5 PP and BPA free, the use of silicone as the seal and insulating layer means your drink will never come in contact with anything but stainless steel and food grade silicone. The silicone seal in the lid also acts as the insulation for the lid to keep your drink hot or cold for hours. Silicone has some amazing insulation properties, think silicone oven mitts. The Quick Stick Zone™ is where the lid can be magnetically tethered to the stainless collar at the bottle's top. It has a ferromagnetic stainless band (metal that is magnetic) embedded between the inner and outer 18/8 stainless bottle walls that allows the magnet to attach. The Sidewinder™ is extremely easy to use while drinking, refilling, and drying with the lid magnetically out of the way on the bottle's side. It has a sophisticated but simple design that is reliable. The magnetic tether will never break, and it will help you to Never Lose Your Lid™.
If you choose a pledge level that includes a graphic for a bottle, or a bottle and 14er cup set, you will be able to select your graphic from our laser graphic library once this project successfully funds...
Once we receive the bottles at our Victor shop, we can laser etch any graphic on any color bottle. The graphic is revealed as stainless. Laser graphics on the 14er stainless cup and brushed stainless Sidewinder bottle are a flat black patina that will never wear off. The heat of the laser changes the patina of the stainless steel. Slate black patina and sandblasting is also completed in Victor, Idaho.

Black Oxide Patina
Black Oxide Patina is applied at our shop in Victor Idaho. The warm slate black finish is achieved with a 7 step process. We start with sandblasting, followed with sanding and then a patina solution is hand rubbed on to build a very warm slate black patina. The process allows the nickel and chrome in the stainless to be pushed below the surface for several days allowing the patina to take hold on the surface of the stainless steel. Very beautiful old world look.
Sidewinder magnet colors
The Sidewinder bottle will come with the standard gray silicone magnet but will be available in 3 more color options if we can reach our 750 Backers Stretch Goal.....

Why I need your help
I will use the funds from this project to help pay for the tooling, production, shipping, Kickstarter fees, Amazon credit card fees and Liquid Hardware funding. Here is a breakdown of what the funds from each bottle will go towards.
TIMELINE AND PRODUCTION PLANS

Risks and challenges
I have completed several production runs for the non-insulated Outrigger with the same manufacturer that I am using for the vacuum insulated Sidewinder bottle. We have a very good working relationship to get things right.
I feel confident that everything will go as planned for this production run, but problems can and do happen. I have made 70 prototypes of these bottles to work through any issues ahead of full production. I am a very detail-oriented person and feel I will be able to correct problems and find solutions if they happen. The risks for the project include the project shipping later than the projected June 2014 date if there are any last minute changes to the tooling that need to be made, problems in production or if there is a shipping strike. I promise to keep backers updated on any changes to the production and fulfillment plan that might occur and as progress towards fulfillment is achieved.
Thank you for your support!
