About this project

What is this all about?

Kayleen and Doug go way back. They met in the nurse’s office of St. Margaret Mary’s, but kids grow up so fast these days. From throwing up at the school dance at thirteen, to shooting an eye out with a firework at twenty-three, to a psychotic break at thirty-three, they’ve always been there for one another.

"Gruesome Playground Injuries" is a modern-day love story by Rajiv Joseph, United States Artists Rockefeller Fellow and Pulitzer Prize finalist, about the near-misses that pull us apart and the pain that keeps us together.

Gruesome Playground Injuries will feature performances by Leigha Horton and Adam Whisner. The production team includes Natalie Novacek (direction), Stuart Gates (sound design), Betsy Jorgensen (make-up design), Daniel Ellis (lighting design), Kiley Cermak (costume design), and Tamara Titsworth (stage manager). There will be a total of eight performances over two weekends.

When and where is this show?

The show is performing March 23-26th, and March 29th-April 1st. All shows are at 8:00pm.

All seats are $10 and will be sold at the door 30 minutes before curtain. Intermedia Arts is located at 2822 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55408. For more information, please call the box office and information line at (612) 234-7793 or visit www.thepeanutbutterfactory.com.

What am I contributing to?

In order to make this show happen, we need to pay our two amazing actors, Adam and Leigha. The funds we raise will go directly to making payroll for our company and production team. Payroll will end up costing the company $1100. Anything raised in excess of our payroll needs will go towards paying off the other show expenses, the costumes, props, theater and rehearsal space rentals. The rights to perform the show come to $75/night, the theater costs $2028, and the production elements (lighting, sound, make-up, props, etc...) will cost us $475. With tickets costing only $10 (we like to keep our art affordable for anyone who wants to see it), it is vital for us to raise as much money as possible.

If you decide to make a pledge, your credit card will be charged when Gruesome Playground Injuries reaches its funding deadline date on April 9th, 2012, but only if the show is fully funded.  It's an all or nothing situation -- if we are not fully funded, your credit card is not charged, and we do not receive anything.

To pledge, click the green “Back This Project” button on the upper right side of the page. You will be asked to enter your pledge amount and select a reward. From there, you will go through the Amazon checkout process. Note that you must finish the Amazon checkout process for your pledge to be recorded.  Kickstarter only supports credit card payments through Amazon Payments.  No cash or checks (though we'll always accept cash and check donations at the box office!)
