A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
ZoomCrane is the professional camera crane with the fastest setup speed and the greatest compactability ever. No matter what area of professional videography/cinematography you're in, whether it's film, weddings, sports, commercials, documentaries, music videos, real estate, travel, or corporate, the benefits of fast setup and easy portability:
make your job easier
increase your margins
open up new opportunities
expand your creative options
ZoomCrane comes in 3 Versions:
The MINI has a 37" reach, 35 lb capacity and a 1:1 counterweight ratio to minimize the amount of counterweight required.
Specifically targeted for run and gun or remote locations, where you normally might be reluctant to carry a crane. Includes a Weight Bag so you can travel without the counterweight arms and use whatever's on hand to balance (rocks, water bottles, etc.). The Mini compacts down to a mere 20x8x7 inches -- small enough to fit in a backpack.
The GT (GlobeTrotter) is the 'standard' ZoomCrane, offering a generous 68" reach and 25 lb payload while compacting down to 20x12x7 inches. That's small enough to fit within airline carry-on requirements!
The GTX (GT eXtended) gives an amazing 8-feet-plus (98") reach, supports payloads up to 16 lbs, yet still compacts to a tight 20x18x7 inches!
Constructed of aircraft quality aluminum and stainless steel, all ZoomCranes feature NO LOOSE HARDWARE -- No cables to thread, no loose nuts or pins to lose. All ZoomCranes come with a 100mm bowl for your camera/payload (75mm & flat mounts optional), and a carry case.
How will the money be used?
We are ready to start production and your pledge will help us pay for the tooling, fixtures, and other manufacturing costs involved in ramping ZoomCrane to full production.
When will the rewards ship?
Our "True EarlyBirds" are ALREADY being built, at our expense. They will ship to their lucky supporters less than two weeks after campaign funds are released!
For the Production units, we have multiple suppliers lined up for all components, and they are just waiting for us to say "go". So we will ship the non-Early Bird ZoomCranes approximately 6 weeks from the day the campaign funds are released!
What makes ZoomCrane so great?
Nothing shouts "Production Value!" like a crane shot. It transforms any boring static shot into a much more interesting, engaging event. ZoomCrane does it better by taking the hassle out of setup and breakdown and by enabling you to take your crane anywhere. You don't have to have a van or grip truck, you can throw it into even the smallest car (and with the Mini, you can just stuff it in a backpack). And ZoomCrane is designed with NO LOOSE HARDWARE. Just two main components, instantly collapsible.

Q. Other cranes make a claim of "fastest setup." What's the real story?
A. For comparison with other cranes, take it to mean having the crane set up on a tripod, ready for the camera and counterweights to be installed. For ZoomCrane, that time is less than 60 seconds, and no other professional crane does it faster.
Q. Can I mount an external monitor to the jib?
A. Yes, there are mounting features for our optional Monitor Mount. It can be mounted on either side of the crane for "Righties" or "Lefties."
Q. I need a 100mm (or 75mm) ball mount. Can you provide?
A. Yes, the standard mount is a 100mm bowl mount, but we have optional 75mm and flat mounts available.
Q. I need the jib for a shoot I'm doing on a specific date. Will I receive it by then?
A. See our True EarlyBird Rewards!
Q. What tripod do you recommend?
A. Add up the total maximum weight you need to support, including your camera package, head, your ZoomCrane, and counterweights. Choose a tripod that is rated for at least 120% of that number. Look for models with very positive no-slip leg-locks.
Note that our RockTopper™ Mini-Tripod is rated to hold any of the ZoomCranes at their maximum capacity including counterweights.
