Stockbox Grocers improves access to healthy food and eases the burden for families living in food deserts, with a miniature grocery that is tucked inside a reclaimed shipping container and placed into the parking lot of an existing business. We innovate on the espresso stand model to build stores throughout urban communities and provide fresh produce and grocery staples within walking distance of home, work, and school.

Stockbox is seeking funding to launch a temporary store in Fall 2011, to gain more in-depth understanding of customer need and build stronger connections to our community. This pop-up retail space will be designed with a focus on community engagement and food education, stocked full of good food, and placed into the Delridge neighborhood.

Delridge is a diverse food desert community in our launch city of Seattle. Many residents are heavily dependent on public transportation and must take 1 to 2 buses to the nearest grocery store, or instead must rely on the food that is available, typically from convenience store options.

We have partnered with West Haven Apartments, which is located in a densely populated part of Delridge.  Their parking lot provides easy community access for residents, in addition to the residents of neighboring apartment and townhouse communities.  The store will be open for two months, to provide increased access to good food and test key concepts of our business model.

Stockbox is working closely with representatives from our city and county governments, community organizations, and local suppliers to ensure that this business is a success and responds to the needs of our community. We invite you to join us, in launching a good food revolution in Delridge and, eventually, in a parking lot near you!
