Mailing and sketch cards update

Posted by Michael May (Creator)

Hi, everyone! I'm in the middle of sending books out for all reward levels. There are almost 300 books I have to mail and it's a one-man operation, so it's going slowly, but I'm sending packages out every day. You've all been very patient and I can't thank you enough. I'm also signing and sketching in every book, which isn't taking a lot more time, but hopefully makes the Kickstarter version worth the wait. I am the writer though, so keep that in mind when you look at your sketch. :)

Speaking of sketches, rather than drawing directly in the books for sketch levels, Jason's creating sketch cards that will come with books for those levels. We didn't make that clear earlier, but doing it this way is better for a couple of reasons.

Most importantly, it ensures a nicer sketch. Jason's learned from convention signings that it's difficult to draw on the inside front cover, which is really the only space for sketches in the books. He can do a much better job drawing on sketch cards that you can either keep with the book or display separately, whichever you prefer. (I'm left-handed, so I don't have the same problem drawing in the inside front cover that Jason does. And my drawings aren't as pretty anyway.)

Secondly though, drawing on sketch cards gets books to backers a lot more quickly since they don't have to go all the way to Canada and back again. Jason's already hard at work on the cards, so the process has begun. As soon as I get them, I'll insert them into books and send them on their way. We hope you agree that the sketch cards are a better deal.

Thanks!

Michael
