What is Winter Song the concept album?
Winter Song will be a concept album inspired by the live-performance. There will be songs performed in the show intertwined with the performer's personal winter stories. Acclaimed pianist Mont Chris Hubbard will be featured and Merideth Kaye Clark and Leif Norby will sing and play acoustic guitar.
Last year we created a brand new show for Portland Center Stage at The Armory in Portland, OR. It was meant to compliment Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory and it was set to premiere in The Armory's wintertime slot in the Ellyn Bye Studio.
We were overjoyed (and overwhelmed) by the possibilities and set to work on what we could create that would represent our honest feelings about the season. We started by listening. We listened to our favorite songs by our favorite composers. We listened to our friends and families' stories about winter and the holidays.
Our show became about memories. We tell our own, personal stories and incorporate the audience's stories into every single performance. We weave these memories together with our favorite songs about winter - songs that evoke the loneliness and the joy, and the memories, wonderful and heart wrenching. In our show there is room for the Grinches and the Pollyannas to commune and share all that winter represents.
We are thrilled A Christmas Memory/Winter Song is coming back this season at The Armory for its second run and can't wait to see you there!
All you have to do to support the creation of this album is to preorder it. We have come up with some other wonderful offerings to connect with our supporters that include tours, artwork, private concerts, tickets to A Christmas Memory/Winter Song at The Armory, and much more. Don't wait to buy the album at the theater! Get it now and you will ensure that we will be able to create it!
Why record Winter Song as an album?
During the run of Winter Song last year, it was clear to us that the show would make a perfect concept album. The combination of stories, music and the auditory experience stand alone to create a journey that can be enjoyed outside of the theater. We were asked time and time again by audience members to create a way to re-experience their evening at the theater and/or share it with their loved ones. And we want to make that happen! Sharing stories and singing songs is what we do. We were so inspired by the warmth, love, and light that this show brought us for the few months last year, that it seemed fitting to want to be able to revisit it at any moment.
Where, when, and how?
We hope to record the album at the state-of-the-art B-Side studios in Portland, OR in early October 2018. We will then spend the rest of October mixing, mastering and creating the artwork and liner notes for the album. Our goal is to have the new Winter Song CD mailed to backers before opening night (November 30, 2018) and have copies of the album ready for audiences to buy at the performances.

Risks and challenges
With your help, we are hopeful to be able to raise the money to record the album by October 11, 2018. Our goal is to have the album recorded, mixed, mastered, and printed in time for the opening night of Winter Song at Portland Center Stage on November 30, 2018.
If we do not raise the entire amount, we will forfeit our campaign, Kickstarter will return the contributions, and we will not be able to record the album. :(
