Did you know there are marine snails with venom powerful enough to kill a 200 lb human in minutes? It's true! Yet in a surprising twist of nature, deadly venom toxins can become life-saving drugs... but only if you discover the correct combination!
In this deck-building strategy game, you play a scientist on a mission to discover new deadly venom peptide combinations or cabals.
You must build a team of venomous marine snails, feed them prey, and collect the deadly peptides cabals you need.
You’ll need to balance feeding and protecting your valuable research snails while building a deck that can attack your opponents with predators, spawn marine events such as tsunamis, and conduct research to find the winning cabal combination before your competitors receive all the glory!
Plan your Strategy
What information are you willing to share by publishing or keep secret through research? Will you cultivate your own snails, or attack the snails of the competition? Find out in Killer Snails: Assassins of the Sea.
This scientifically accurate deck-building strategy card game was developed by world-renowned marine biochemist, Dr. Mandë Holford; award-winning educational psychologist, Dr. Lindsay Portnoy; and internationally known game designer Nicholas Fortugno of Playmatics, and produced by Jessica Ochoa Hendrix, in collaboration with the Education Department of the American Museum of Natural History.
Killer Snails: Assassins of the Sea has been prototyped and playtested across the United States, England and Spain, and the full art and design are complete.
During game play, you may learn about the biochemistry of killer snails and other details of marine exploration and the scientific method, but you may not notice during this action-filled game. This game is recommended for ages 12 and up.
If we reach $15,000, every donor new and prior who gives at the $25 level or above will receive a 3D printed Killer Snail from Dr. Mandë Holford's laboratory! (Note: no venom used in the 3D printing mixture- totally safe!)
The funds we raise during this campaign will be used to cover the cost of a full production run and shipping for the game.
