It feels like it's been years in the making. In a way, it has. Early last year I launched a gofundme campaign to try and raise the means to finally record a solo debut full length album. At first it seemed like the goal was going to get met, but then one of life's downfalls happened. In August of last year doctor's discovered tumors littering my father's spinal cord and ribcage. A month later it was discovered to be bone cancer, but shortly after that we discovered that it was in fact stage 4 liver cancer. By October he was gone. Now, I don't say that for sympathy donations or to bring you down. However, I do say that to explain why the campaign seemingly disappeared. I was able to raise around $3,000 dollars, which allowed me to release my latest 3 song EP "LINES" on September 1st.
In the time from my father's diagnosis to his departure to the present day, the writing hasn't seemed to stop. So far there are 3 full albums worth of songs and it's nearing 4. These songs are deeply personal and all over the map of emotions. It's through these trials that I stumbled upon what I've searched for my entire life and that is my voice and my sound. It's almost strange in a way. To think that out of so much chaos there was a silver-lining.
Now comes the hard part, taking the songs from a notepad and live performances to a tangible, physical thing. I don't have to talk about how skewed the music industry is to explain the great lengths artists have to go to continue making their art. But, honest songs are almost the responsibility of the artist to get out and into the world. Music has been my best friend, my best outlet, and has helped me channel my depression, anxiety, and heartache into something that, to me, is meaningful. I hope that with your help this album can finally make t's way into the world and these songs can also mean something to you. They've stepped me back from the ledge and held me up. I hope they can comfort you and that they take on a special meaning for you. Sincerely,
Risks and challenges
The songs are written and the musicians are assembled and ready to record. The hardest part is going to be able to afford the studio, mixing, mastering, pressing the record, as well as making sure I pay my guys that are playing on the record. But, everything is lined up and ready to go if we can get the funds get there.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
