The laser head requires protective eyewear and produces fumes if plastics (or other such materials) are engraved. 3D printing and other applications do not produce any fumes, however, the 3D printing heated end tip is very hot while running and the CNC cutting head is spinning at very high speeds. So, it is best to keep your distance while the arm is running. We recommend the same safety precautions that you would use with other machinery.
We'll also be making an acrylic safety enclosure and offer that as an accessory when Makerarm ships so that it can be operated safely around students.
