The happy, bouncy, infectious swing feel pioneered by musicians like Nat King Cole and Oscar Peterson doesn't get too much attention these days, often being overshadowed in the minds of critics by more modern styles of Jazz.
That bouncy swing though is what first made me fall in love with Jazz music, and from traveling and performing throughout the world I've found hundreds of Jazz fans who feel the same way.
I hope you'll help me put together this CD project, 'That Old Feeling,' dedicated to continuing and developing that beautifully happy swing.
I've got 2 phenomenal musicians with me:
Chris Flory on guitar, who's worked with everyone from Benny Goodman to Hank Jones to Roy Eldridge to Papa Jo Jones, lends his incredible drive and hard swinging blues sensibility.
George Delancey on bass, one of the busiest bass players on the New York scene today, brings his super solid drive and incredible solo technique to the project as well.
I believe this is one of the finest groups I've ever assembled, and I hope you'll help me document it and keep this kind of swing alive and well on the Jazz scene today. Thank you.
Risks and challenges
Creating a top notch recording these days can be challenging. The market for CD's has declined as more people turn to streaming services and YouTube.
But there are still those out there who want to hear high quality music delivered in a beautiful sounding and well designed package.
I've got contacts in New York with some truly world class studios, and I'll be able to use their skills in conjuction with those of the band to produce a top notch recording I know you'll love.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
