What is NEVES about?
Based on the novel by the same name (written by me, Carlos R Savournin), NEVES follows Cynthia Sheyer and her friends as they stumble upon their parents’ gruesome murders on a quiet night. The notorious killer, Mason Bayer, meets his match when they fight back. Eighteen years later, the group finds they’ve suddenly taken on traits of the killer known for numbering his victims in backward English. One by one, they turn their backs on each other when they discover their biggest threat is themselves, and the only way to ensure their safety is to kill one another. Though the killer has been dead for nearly two decades, he lives within them, and it is clear he has a job to finish; a victim to number NEVES.
Is it going to be any good?
Horror movies. I love them, you love them, but let's face it; they're a little stale these days. Being a fan of horror for as long as my twisted brain could absorb what my eyes were seeing on TV, I know what works. I know what's cliche, what's been done, and the kind of film that the genre is begging for. NEVES isn't just a project to me, its is a labor of love as I have written both the novel and screenplay. Is it going to be any good? Yes. Without a doubt. This is not your run-of-the-mill slasher filled with pot-smoking teenagers; rather, a smart psychological thriller that introduces a new kind of killer - the one inside all of us.
What is the goal of NEVES?
The horror genre has a tendency to die and...resurrect (pun intended)
itself. Currently, it is dead. Everything that's coming out is either a
sequel (Paranormal Activity 4), a remake (Carrie), or a reboot
(Child's Play). It's all been done. I want to help breathe new life into
the genre with a fresh film about adults who are faced with the toughest of decisions and most frightening of circumstances.
How will the money be used?
The money you pledge will be used 100% for the production of this film. Being from Miami, I have already scouted locations and spoke to several individuals who will help make this film on a budget such as the one I have set as our goal. We will hire actors and film crew from the local playhouses and drama departments from local Universities such as FIU and UM. My intention is to make this a project where fresh minds and hands can all be a part of and collaborate in.
I want to help, but I don't have money!
Money is tight - believe me, we all know it. You can still help, though! Get the word out there; email your friends about the project, pick up the digital copy of the book here (it's only $0.99!) and let others know you're reading it. Post it on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, whatever you can think of. Money is great, but word of mouth is even better.
How will I know the status of the film?
Using various forms of social media (Facebook, Twitter, websites), I will keep everyone involved abreast of the project's status. I hereby promise to not leave anyone in the dark or go for long periods of time without responding because, after all, without you, I would not be able to do this.
