WHAT IS ACIDSOUL?
AcidSoul is a fast-paced air hockey game with an adventure filled story, solo and multiplayer modes, and intense hard to master gameplay. We imagine it as the spiritual successor to Shufflepuck Café with a dark side. The goal is simple, score more points than your opponent. You can unlock powers and collect them, you can play alone (against the A.I. in the story mode, or match by match in Arcade), online (against other players from around the world), or as several players on the same screen (at home or at a friend’s home).
• UNIQUE ARTSTYLE – Inspired by popular 80s and 90s media, AcidSoul brings air hockey back to the gaming world. Fall into the world of AcidSoul and save the world, one puck at a time.
• 17+ LEVEL (so far) – Every level is its own universe. Every playable level has its own story and unique characteristics that affect the gameplay. If we meet our stretch goal we hope to double the number of playable levels.
• HYPER DYNAMIC GAMEPLAY – The gameplay is very fast paced. Add in powers and unique environmental elements and the game becomes even faster. Easy to learn, hard to master!
• SPLITSCREEN AND ONLINE MULTIPLAYER – Yes you read right, Splitscreen is back! Sit comfortably on a sofa with friends, share the controllers and fight! Or sit on a desk chair, grab your mouse and face players online!
• CONTROLLERS - Mouse, game controllers, or touchpad. Choose your weapon!
• CHOOSE YOUR STYLE - Equip your character with the powers of your defeated enemies! More than 30 different powers to unlock (so far). Choose well because the fate of humanity is at stake.
• DEATH STRIKE - End your enemies with a special end shot FATALITY. Explode your enemies, in every sense of the word.
• CHALLENGING ENEMIES AND BOSSES - 17 different and exciting enemies, with their own personalities, and their unique way of playing (…so far. We want to add way more opponents in the game with the stretch goals).
• FULL CAMPAIGN – Take advantage of an off the wall story of an anti-hero who does not want to die now, especially not now! And discover why the fate of humanity is not that important for him. The strange entity that chose him to save his home planet seems to have another plan in mind too, what is it really? Why did he choose him? Where is the real chosen one, the real hero?
• STORY MODE OF CHARACTERS - A unique story drawn by hand for each character. Defeat your enemies and win the chance to play them. Discover their stories by playing them in the Story mode and enjoy more storytelling.
Based mainly on the skills and reflexes of the player, the game is enhanced with powers that can be unlocked as the story evolves in the single player mode and during games won in the multiplayer mode.
This kind of nervous game requires a fine mastery of gameplay aspects and of the use and association of powers.
The choice of using round rather than rectangular paddles helps to manage shooting angles more effectively.
It is important that the speed at which you move the paddle to counter or to return the puck is not restrained. The faster you move the paddle forward, the more the puck will be thrown back! However, speed and strength are nothing without technique. They make it possible to carry out checks of the puck before sending it back. You can calm down the game, feint, send cannon balls aiming at a specific corner. You can ricochet the puck on the edges of the table by destabilizing the opponent before completing it with a power well placed !
With its campaign, AcidSoul offers an immersive scripted space in which one can slide. Mystery, science fiction and humor. Discover different dimensions and dive into post-apocalyptic environments, enchanting forests, arid deserts, sumptuous cities, monasteries, chaotic futuristic cities and many others.
PRESENTATION OF THE STORY :
An entity from outer space comes for your life, wants you to save the Earth and all mankind. He said you're the chosen one of your home planet. But you are not! And he is totally wrong! He's going to get you wrong, and you're probably going to die. Welcome to AcidSoul!

ARCADE MODE AND STORY OF CHARACTERS:
Each defeated character will be added to the Arcade mode, you can battle them again or choose their story mode. A new part of the game opens in the character story mode, you will discover the life of those you fought, why they were at the table, what were their intentions, their origins, their destiny! And, what would have happened if you had not been in their way?!
Characters have attributes that are unique to them and that they can trigger at any time. We have created several algorithms that make each part unique. These characters will each have an element that alters the gameplay. You will have to find the flaw or strength of these characters. Others will have different radical changes on the game over time, like the alcoholic who collapses on the table and whose full body blocks your access to the goal. You will have to hit the drunkard several times using the puck to wake him up. That is one example among many. Opponents will also have one or more powers that will have to be countered otherwise your end will come faster than expected. At the end of the fight, if you survive you can try to steal the power of your opponent! (Mini games) You will be able to try your luck as many times as you have a life point left. If after that you have not succeeded you can always try your luck in the ARCADE mode, fight the new opponent you just met who will be automatically added, and try again to recover their power! Each character will be unique, will have their background, their personality and their own way of playing.

Throughout the adventure you will unlock many powers that will multiply the opportunities to interact with the environment to overcome your opponent. It's up to you to select the ones that will lead you to victory and to unlock new ones to defeat even tougher enemies.
COUNTER ATTACK ? OH YEAH !
The use of powers is varied and sometimes radically changes the gameplay. For example, when the mirroring power is activated, it sets up a two-way mirror between the players: only the one that has launched the power can see through the mirror while the other player only sees his own reflection, which is very destabilizing, even disturbing. Indeed, one does not see the puck arrive until the very last moment and when one returns the puck it disappears as soon as it passes through the mirror. Another example is the power "Pong", which allows the camera filming the game to be placed above the table instead of the front. This can be used to counter the mirror mode or simply to drastically destabilize the opponent therefore changing the way you play all at once (playing in top view is a lot different, especially when you're not expecting it). The synergy between the powers is of paramount importance.
Powers in an opponents hand show as objects on the playing field. Players will create their own decor as they unlock various objects.
The interface in the game is minimalist. Nothing more than the score is displayed by default.
It is however possible to display the information relating to the mapping of the keys / powers. A bubble will then be displayed for each of the usable powers.

Mike Power :
Ping. Mike's power goes off! The camera is suddenly over the field, you play like a kind of pong, as long as you do not score, the game keeps going. Mike's band encouragements, burns and motorcycles’ motors screams, will be a lot of distraction. His city, his stronghold, his gang… That won’t be easy for you...
Max Power :
Surin. Max throws a shuriken that makes you fall, your view is low and crooked. As long as you do not score, the game stays like that ... yeah, Max does not joke. Actually, the only thing she will find funny is seeing you bleed.
Jimon Power :
Breaking the wall. Jimon raises a wall in the middle of the field, which will throw back the puck as long as you can not get past it.
Gyaltsen Power :
the psychic power. Gyaltsen twirls his hand, through his thought he ejects the puck on the right or on the left. Are you hallucinating or is his jaw enlarged and deformed like that of a monster wanting to swallow some large prey?
Henri Power :
Gaz gaz. The good old fart, except it as a real hurricane! Henri keeps his buttocks tight, throws his hand forward then relaxes violently. The puck goes opposite direction because of the burst. The bastard, he evens laughs and messes around with you. His power may look stupid but he is no less deadly.
M.Russia Power :
Bang bang motha f***** (ПИФ-паф). Not a smile, just firearms appearing in her hands, hail of bullets coming to you, blood spurting on the screen and your racket cut in half. You have to score very fast for it to stop.
You want to store your power? No problem. Here is the adventurer 3000.
Required for storing your objects and powers. It grows bigger throughout your journey.
Your travel bag is your most valuable ally. It allows you to store your usable equipment during the fighting. The available space is limited. You therefore have to make choices among the powers (objects) you will carry during your adventures.
You can change your powers at the end of each game in the "LockerRoom" menu before starting a game.
The bag will grow bigger as the single-player campaign evolves.
It will evolve at the same time as you, with extra pockets, a sleeping bag and a water bottle; it will take volume to become the ultimate paraphernalia of the perfect intergalactic companion. At the end of the campaign you can store up to six items.
The size of the bag will directly affect the multiplayer mode, because the more space you have, the more power you have. As a result, we pitch players to the single-player campaign while offering multiplayer-style quests to dive into the big swim and climb their ranks. Learn to control their powers on the single player mode and master them in multiplayer mode.
The paddles that players use to send the puck are collectible.
Your racket will be customizable thanks to many layers, each more beautiful and more trendy than the other. Dare your unique brushed aluminum paddle, make your opponent's green with envy by decorating your racket with magnificent flames.
You prefer red with dots, candy pink with lightning or just super black? No problem, they are all there, you just have to win them by finishing the characters, in campaign mode, with success or in multiplayer.
Express yourself by customizing your paddle your way, collect them all! And let me tell you that there will be a huge amount of them, we want you to have choices and we want you to be free to express yourself in your own way.
There are also bosses, defeating them will not be easy. There are no longer scores to reach but a life bar to bring down. You will discover that these filthy beings have more than one trick in their sleeve and that your bar of life may shorten faster than expected.

Example from Boss 1: Virus
As you fight inside a spaceship, your opponent's chest explodes on your last assault. You think you won. You are exhausted. Then you realize that behind them is an unknown alien species that slips into the smoking carcass of your challenger and sneaks through its limbs. In virulent spasms, the carcass of the deceased falls. The new host takes the controls. Your opponent seems bigger, totally deformed and monstrously powerful. Your life bar is flashing, you swallow with difficulty.
Example from Boss 2: Ecchimon
Example of one of the powers of Ecchimon, the thousand pleasures destabilization: Your side of the table is suddenly covered with a huge erotic blurred drawing (male or female). A groan of pleasure (feminine or masculine) is emitted when the puck enters goal zone or when a goal is scored. The power stays until your opponent scores.

The old shepherd gets his life back by stooping under the table. We hear him take a swig of an unknown fluid while a sheep bleats in terror. When he reappears, a liquid flows out of his lips, he laughs and his life goes up. To beat him, you must score when the shepherd is under the table, preventing him from taking a swig of "milk" to make his life go up. Scoring at this precise moment will make him lose balance, he will rise again with threatening grumblings.

Despite his injuries Daemon, the immortal, seems to regenerate in the last two rounds, impossible to defeat him. Will you find the trick to make him succumb?
HAND-DESIGN LEVELS – Nearly everything is hand-drawn, from the characters to animations, the sets and even the underpants on the clothesline that swing in the wind.
From the arid desert, to the Japanese dojo and the dark city of the 90s in decline, each character has an origin, a world and a decoration of its own.
Some worlds are post apocalyptic, others green, flourishing and full of life while others still are futuristic with gigantic megacities touching the skies.
Each drawing is handmade, colorized with passion and meticulousness.
Each level has its peculiarities that can randomly modify the gameplay.
EXPLANATION OF THE KNIGHTRESS LEVEL:
During the game a flying car patrols randomly in the background. You hear it first then you see it, it scans the room. If you have your power of activated, the car shines a blinding spotlight on you and grabs you, making you lose a point and cancels your power.

One of the great strengths of AcidSoul lies in its gameplay, its visual atmosphere but especially in its multiplayer mode.
We remember hours spent with ShufflePuck Café and imagine the possibility of bringing multiplayer to a similar world. You will be able to challenge friends online and split screen locally 1v1, 2v2, and more.

After leaving a successful career in retail management at a number of video game, computer, and multimedia stores, Jim decided to devote his life to art. He embarked on a year-long trip around Asia with his wife, all the while writing his first book. He now lives in Bayonne with his wife and 2 year-old daughter while studying computer science and dedicating his time to realizing the dream of publishing a video game. Jim's primary role is to develop the story, art and animation on AcidSoul. With a heavy focus on the graphic atmosphere of the game, Jim's unique comicbook style is one of the main features in AcidSoul.
• Who are the team members? What are your roles?
Beside the development (Vincent), the graphism and the scenario (Jim), we do everything together, all ideas in the game, the mechanics of the map, the choice of characters, the powers, the death strike, and more. Everything is chosen by him and me. It’s a lot of talking, of nostalgia, of fun, laugh, sweat and hard work.
• Have you worked together before?How do you know each other?
We have not been working together but we were raised together. We know each other very well because we are from the same family, we are related by blood and more important, by passion.
We have been working for a year and a half on the game, in our free time, evenings and weekends. We now have to move to the next level and work full time on it. Kickstarter seems to us the perfect place to share our project. We hope to go as far into the idea of our game as possible. To do that, we need you.

We hope that by reaching some stretch goals we can push the game even further. Delivering a perfect and carefully finished game is a priority for us, but we will not lose our main goal; Goal stretch or not, the basic game will be great, and polished. Here we lay the foundations of a solid game and with you, we will reach the stars.

Risks and challenges
Only death could stop us from finishing AcidSoul. This is the game we have always wanted to create, we will go all the way and we will do it well. The structure of the game is there, the fundamentals are done. We will go to the end of the day no matter what happens. The challenge is timing. There is no way for us to rush certain parts of the game, if we must push a module to work on it longer we will, if we have to focus our efforts on a task to get it to do exactly what we want, we will do it. The planning has been carefully thought out and the delay that may occur on certain complex tasks is already factored in to the timeline. Everything is under control. All can be changed for what we now, nothing is write in stone, but with your help, we going to do the better.
