About this project
I had always dreamed of creating this game but never had the time. In the summer of 2010 after graduating from university, I began developing to realise my dream of making Reboot Robot a reality. However I only got to make a prototype version of the game before life got in my way. This prototype version can be seen by checking the video above.
Skip forward to today, I've decided I can dedicate a large portion of my future to developing this game in its entirety.
The game will be an action platformer with a distinctly square asthetic. The target platform will be PC.
The story revolves around a small robot and its mission in restoring power to a facility which has been attacked by an EMP fired by another robotic faction. Humans are extinct btw. Oh did I mention its set in outer space, because that's kind of important too. There will be elements of comedy throughout.
Reboot Robot will be a short level based game. I estimate that the finished project will have approximately 200 fully developed levels. These levels will be displayed in a grid based arrangement, with level 01, being the only available level initially. Completing a level will unlock all levels located adjacent to this level, with the ultimate end goal of reaching the bottom right corner of the grid to defeat the game.
I intend to hire an artist and musician to enhance the professionality of this project and advance Reboot Robot to a fully polished product by the end of the development cycle.
If funding is successful, you can follow the development through monthly video updates on the game gradually progress. I should be able to allow access to progress on the artwork, demos of gameplay elements, musical samples and so on... so you can see your investment in action.
Risks and challenges
The development of this project will be approximately one year, with the product being ready for release by Christmas 2016. This is a tight time frame for the development of a full video game.
I will be creating the project with the help of an artist and musician, that I have yet to hire. We must come together and work as a cohesive team to achieve our end goal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
