Evil Baby is a fast paced Russian Roulette Survival Card Game for up to 12 Players. The basic idea is players take turns drawing a card from the deck and whoever draws the Evil Baby loses. Special cards are included to help you defend yourself against the Evil Baby, and also to beat your opponents.
This a Kickstarter relaunch campaign, I have made some important adjustments to ensure the game play isn't too similar to Exploding Kittens, and has an original feel to it when playing.
Why this game?
I have been a huge fan of Russian Roulette Style Card Games for a while now where kittens and chickens blow up when you draw them and every card carries some level of comedy, keeping the games fresh and re-playable. So I came up with the Evil Baby! An indestructible pure evil kid that ends the player in severely over-the-top scenarios when his card is drawn from the deck. Everything else just fell into place, the attack cards are modified baby toys turned into grenades, defense cards are funny ways of stopping the baby temporarily, Goo Goo Voodoo make magic changes to the game play, and so on.
How is this different from Exploding Kittens and other Russian Roulette style games?
This is a very important point I need to address, of course the main difference would be that it has nothing to do with kittens and the entire game is themed towards an indestructible psychopath baby that is trying to kill you, but also mechanically, with different special cards, obviously completely changes the dynamics of the game play, here are a few of the main differences:
Combo attacks - This feature adds a huge element of fun and decision making as you can really stitch up players late in the game when you force them to draw up to 8 extra cards using the Dummy Grenade Attack Card Combo Attacks.
No Stop Cards - In the original draft I had stop cards as an optional include but after actually playing the game a load more times, it adds more individuality with Stop Cards removed.
Counter Cards - Another great feature that can potentially knock another player straight out the game if it's probable they haven't got a defense card to play.
No 'See the Future' Cards - Another feature I found this game mode worked better without and is definitely a defining feature on other similar games.
Magic Cards - These cards can make players swap their entire hand with another players, pick up more cards, change direction of game play etc, each adding a cool new mechanic to each game.
Risks and challenges
The main risk is not reaching the original funding goal, if we can get past that first hurdle, everything else will just fall into place,
I have good suppliers for the cards and their packaging and reliable couriers ready for the shipping to ensure your items get to you on time.
