First you distribute and take turns placing terrain tiles to build the game board. Because of the variety of tiles, no two games will have the same set up.
Then each player will pick an alien species and place their mother ship tile in front of them.
On your turn you will use an Available Power to use one of the actions. These actions allow you to move troops, build bases, blow up monuments, or just antagonize the humans.
Once everyone is out of available power you flip a Resistance card to see how the humans react to your presence, and then all power becomes available again.
When the timer board fills up the game will end, but as you hit specific spots you will be able to upgrade your ship or gain more power for your ship. Of course, if you are impatient you can oppress the humans, adding a new resistance card to the board and taking an entire turn out of the game.
Once the board fills the game comes to an end and then, and only then, do you score points based on how much you have destroyed, harvested, protected, and conquered.

Risks and challenges
The biggest risks come in delays. This is my first board game and because of that I only have rough estimates on how long everything will take. However, even if the game gets delayed it will still be released.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
