Scale Model Update

Scale Model Update

I've been making and remaking templates for the 1:6 scale model individual teeth. It's been difficult because I wanted to make a template that would let me make 104 teeth (52x2) for the smaller of the 2 wheels of the Mayan Tricycle each as identical to each other as possible. If they are off by a little bit, the model will be useless. I really need this version to work as much as possible like the full sized Trike.

I made the final gear-tooth template by cutting the tooth shape out of a 1/4 inch thick piece of wood and added piece of wood on the back to guide the wood strip to be cut through the template. Using a sharp pencil to mark inside the template gives a clear line that is the same each time, and the template is tough enough to not wear out too quickly.

With the new template, I was able to mark and roughly cut out the 104 chunks of wood to be shaped into gear teeth fairly quickly.

Fund Raising Update
We've been stuck at just a little above the half-way mark on the way to the goal of $4000 with half the time gone. On paper that sounds like we're doing ok, but the rate has dropped WAAAY down over the last few days. All the model-making in the world isn't gonna get very far if we can't raise almost $2000 more in the next 3 weeks
