About this project
Welcome to the Say It Like It Is page!
Say It Like It Is is a film created by Maria McIndoo, a recent graduate of the University of St. Andrews school of film who recently moved back to New York to get her career as an independent filmmaker underway.
Say It Like It Is is one of those films that brings an analysis on life to light that many think but rarely speak of. As the title describes, the film’s protagonist Dylan attempts to digest a series of unwelcome changes with a bluntness that can be affective in her writing but is difficult to mirror in her relationships.
Say It Like It Is is a faltering coming of age film of sorts. Chronicling the abrupt and brief homecoming of Dylan, a 20-something year old who refuses to be jaded by idealism, Say It Like It Is tells the story of inevitable and universal change. Throughout the course of the film, Dylan finds herself navigating through her friend's decisions about life and an idealistic future while attempting to define and understand her own.
The script is written. The cast is chosen. The crew has been contracted.
But here’s the thing: it’s YOUR support that is going to bring this movie to life. Currently in its pre-production stages, Say It Like It Is needs funding to leap off the pages of the script and onto the screen.
But what does that mean?
We will be shooting Say It Like It Is in the summer of 2012. Our fundraising goal is a modest $3,500 to solely cover the cost of equipment and overhead. The rest of the film’s costs will be bore by its creators. No one working on this film is being paid, so we need your support to defray costs.
Plain and simple, to get this movie made.
This is a story and an idea that has yet to be explored in film, and with your support we can see this come to fruition if we reach our monetary goal of $3,500.
What initially started as a humble idea for a short film has grown over time to a full-length feature. All the necessary cast and crew is attached and committed to the project (all we need now is to raise this $3,500!).We are currently in pre-production and will begin shooting THIS SUMMER (2012)!
Through updates and emails you’ll be given an inside look into the making of our movie. We’ll also keep you informed as we try to get the movie screened around the world through film festivals, private and public screenings, or any other way we can get our movie to an audience.
