Sponsor this Brooklyn punk band's debut seven-inch, MR. DREAM GOES TO JAIL.
Matt Morello, Adam Moerder, and Nick Sylvester are MR. DREAM, a punk band based in Brooklyn. We have been rehearsing together for about a year, and began to play live in New York City in late April. People compare our sound to the Wipers, Nirvana, and SST acts like Black Flag and Husker Du. The sound man at our last show played The Marked Men after our set, which we assume means we sound a bit like The Marked Men too. Here are two early demos:
We have been very fortunate to have so much support from our friends, who have lent us equipment, driven us to shows, and offered their cramped practice spaces. And so it is a great honor and privilege that Yancey Strickler invited us to open a fundraising project at Kickstarter. We simply wouldn't be able to record our debut seven-inch, MR. DREAM GOES TO JAIL, without the kind of good will Kickstarter generates.
MR. DREAM GOES TO JAIL is a four-song EP. Your donation will help finance the seven-inch's recording, mastering, pressing, digitizing, art-ing, and packaging. We plan to make 300 physical copies of the record, so this is something of a limited edition object. Rob Dubbin, a writer for The Colbert Report who moonlights as a photographer, art-directed the cover shoot earlier this spring. Zach Kanin, a popular cartoonist for The New Yorker, reprised his Curtis Hanson persona and wrote the record's exclusive liner notes. Take a look page-right to find out about other funding incentives.
