About this project
Wonder Mill Needs Your Help!
Wonder Mill Films is a group of filmmakers hoping to contribute to the cinematic voice of the U.S. South. Film has become democratized, and cinema is growing in all regions of the country. We want to be a part of that growth.
Over the past five years, we've successfully produced two feature-length genre films:
A Genesis Found (2010) is a smart and rich adventure film that uses a science fiction premise to ask questions about God and creation. It's been favorably reviewed by several major sites, was the fulcrum point of a successful Campus Tour across the Southeast, and was screened at the following events:
- 2009 Science Fiction Researchers Convention
- Shore Leave Sci-Fi Convention and Film Festival
- Secret City Film Festival
- Alabama International Film Fest
- South Alabama Film Fest
- IndieFest USA
The Nocturnal Third (2011) is a stream-lined noir thriller that follows a young man through the nightmare scenario of a late shift gone wrong. Paranoid and moody, The Nocturnal Third has been said to evoke both David Lynch and Christopher Nolan, and has been reviewed by these film sites:
- Film Threat
- Battleship Pretension
- Man, I Love Films!
- The Independent Critic
- Cinema Assassin
- Nashville Examiner
- Past the Popcorn
Both films have been featured on the website of the LA radio show Film Courage, and are gaining word-of-mouth daily.
The Next Step
Right now, we're developing our third feature, but we can't move on until we've taken care of our first two features. We need our films to be on visible, accessible platforms like Hulu Plus and Netflix Instant for them to maintain exposure. We'd also like to use the films as a way to reach out and network with other filmmakers via a series of "Roadshow" screenings at colleges across the Southeast. We've figured that this whole endeavor will take about $6,000.
Distribber "aggregates" films for delivery to iTunes, Netflix Instant, and Hulu Plus. Inclusion on these platforms is not guaranteed, but we do get our money back if not accepted, minus a $39 process fee. Here's how we'll use the money raised in this campaign:
$4,200 - Submission of both A Genesis Found and The Nocturnal Third to Distribber
- iTunes Charges: $1,295 (SD) to $1,595 (HD)
- Hulu Charges: $399 (w/ iTunes submission) or $750 (w/o iTunes)
- Netflix Charges: $250 (SD) or $395 (HD), w/ iTunes submission
$1,800 - Roadshow and Miscellaneous Costs
- Venue Expenses
- Gas and Transportation
If You Can't Give...Please share this campaign on Facebook, Twitter, through e-mail, around the water cooler, or wherever else you can! Our movies are made for any casual movie fan, so be sure to mention them in casual conversations.
Above all, thank you so much for your attention, your support, and your time!
