Feature documentary PRIDE? explores the history and relevance of LGBTQ+ Pride in the UK.
In March we screened a work-in-progress edit at the BFI FLARE FESTIVAL and were a pick of the festival in the Independent which said PRIDE? "will no doubt be one of the most important LGBT factual films of 2017.”
Before we can go further, there are vital historical moments we need to visualise through archive film and photos...which is why we need your help!
Archive material is expensive but with your help we can create a thought provoking film that celebrates and educates.
We've interviewed key figures from Pride's history: Jennie Lazenby (Lesbian Strength) Stuart Feather (Founder member, The Gay Liberation Front), Peter Tatchell (Co-Founder, Outrage) and Lisa Power (Founder member, Stonewall):
Also included are current lead organisers: Phyll Opoko-Gyimah (Director of UK Black Pride), Michael Salter-Church and Alison Camps (Co-Chairs of Pride-In-London):
They share key events from Pride's history and current story. We need to go one step further and SHOW YOU!

LGBTQ+ rights have evolved dramatically since the Equality Act 2010. Protection from discrimination at work, equal marriage, adoption and more. Much progress to celebrate, especially this year 2017, the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales.
A generation has grown up with same-sex marriage, since the repeal of Section 28, the homophobic law stating that Local Authorities ‘shall not intentionally promote homosexuality', and without memories of the HIV Crisis which has perhaps lead to a complacency.
Events like the shootings at Pulse in Orlando, Florida where 49 people were murdered, Brexit and the Trump Presidency are accompanying a rise in homophobic, racist and xenophobic attitudes. These may feel familiar to the older generations of our communities, while being an eye opener to LGBTQ+ youth who may not have faced these struggles.
PRIDE?'s success is due to the incredible contributions people have already made, a film "by the community, for the community." And we need you to be a part of this too. If you're not LGBTQ+ we want you too. We're always strengthened by our straight allies and this campaign is no different!

Riesgos y desafíos
We're a very low risk project. We're already on track to complete the new version of PRIDE? in the coming months. We've filmed additional interviews and footage to enhance the film. We already have some excellent archive footage already in the film.
Our Kickstarter is going to allow us to license more of the footage we need to illustrate our contributors stories of the history of UK LGBTQ+ Pride. If we can't get them we'll use the existing images of them speaking, it's just always better to see what people are referring to rather than simply watch it recounted.
