Ava - The Lucky Girl With Two Dads is a 2D animated cartoon based on the book Stork M.I.A., published in 2010. The book tells the story of Dad and Dad, who get tired of waiting for the stork and decide to find the stork and ask for a baby. But, where does the stork live? Dad and Dad go on this adventure that takes them around the world, looking for the stork. Mom and Mom jump in to help them, and… Dad and Dad eventually meet the stork and are graced with beautiful little Ava.
We now have Ava - The Lucky Girl With Two Dads. Ava's now in second grade, and this fun, smart and determined little girl has decided that she's going to be the first woman president of The United States of America. Or likely second, or third, depending on how history writes itself in the next few weeks. But first, she has to figure out how to become president of Second Grade. Although exciting and fun, it may not be as easy as one may think. She has some competition - some competition that doesn't always play fair. But, she also has help and a lot of friends. She has the stork, who decided to retire, and is now Ava's campaign manager and sidekick. By the way, she likes to be called Dolores, not Stork. There's Paco, her BFF, and Mom and Mom's son, and the twins, Joe and June, Mr and Mrs McBrolic's kids.
The universe of kid's cartoons is varied and amazing. Yet, too many children of same-gender couples are watching cartoons from a borrowed universe, or a universe that doesn't fully embrace their reality. I think it's time to introduce kids to a cartoon that features same gender couples and their kids as a natural part of life. Not as something special or different. That's why this cartoon is mostly about Ava, a cool little girl, who just happens to have two awesome dads. Like her BFF, Paco, happens to have two awesome moms. And no, not all kid characters in this cartoon have same-gender parents.
It's very important to me that little girls see and understand that they can be anything they want to be. From princesses and ballerinas, to astronauts and presidents. And more important, it's necessary that little boys understand and accept that because little boys and little girls are the men and women of tomorrow.
My goal is to raise enough money to produce the best animated pilot I can. Or, if possibility, financial possibility, presents itself, the best animated series.
But making a cartoon is VERY expensive and complicated, and I need your help to make it happen with quality. If you can donate, any amount is welcome. If you can't, you can still help by spreading the word. Please post on Facebook, twitter, email, tell your friends…
Let's make this happen! Vote Ava!

Risks and challenges
While we don't anticipate any major challenges to our project, we do recognize that unforeseen circumstances can arise. Probably the biggest risks are production delays for the manufactured goods. We are working with some excellent manufacturers that have proven themselves for other Kickstarter projects in times past, and most of the items we are producing have a comparatively short production time. As for the animated series, we have back-up animation teams in place to ensure that however much animation we are able to produce will be done within a very reasonable amount of time!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
