Automotive Inspired Art for Classic Car Enthusiasts and Gear Heads
Steve Brandenburg has gained exposure in national magazines like Street Rodder and most recently a segment on Powerblock Tv for his automotive inspired wood carvings. Having also shown his work at local car, art, and craft shows as a hobby for a few years, he has been encouraged to turn his art into his profession. He would like to start building his clientele by promoting his work in larger, more lucrative settings.

Our Project
With the registration having already begun and spots filling quickly, we are asking for your contribution to secure a booth at the St. James Court Art Show on October 4-6th, 2013. Your pledges would help us attain the $500 booth fee. This show would be a stepping stone to other shows we would like to attend as stretch goals and would assist in bringing Steve Brandenburg’s artwork to new and larger audiences. That alone could be the 'kickstart' to turning a Kentucky Craftsman’s dream to reality.

Brandenburg Woodworks- The Background
While watching one of the many automotive programs he enjoys, Steve saw the host of one particular show pull a rusted head of an engine off a shelf. Thinking it looked a lot like wood, the seed had been planted of what would later become a 1:1 scaled wooden replica of a Chevrolet 350 Engine. It had only been intended to be a personal piece that would serve as a coffee table in his living room until friends and family urged him to get it out into the public eye. Skeptical, he eventually began taking it to local car shows and cruise-ins. After receiving a welcoming response from viewers, he was inspired to create some of the other ideas he had imagined, effectively making them also out of wood. Six years later, he is still motivated to fabricate new things including his Ford Flathead V8 Engine mentioned in the stretch goals (below).

Stretch Goals

Risks and challenges
One main challenge we may face is obtaining funds in time to secure a booth. Hundreds of local and national artists have already applied and the remaining spots are dwindling. If this happens and we do reach our goal, we will use the funds to proceed to another show like the ones listed in our stretch goals. The only other challenges that we foresee would be time constraints to complete pledge rewards. Each piece ranges from three hours to four months worth of time invested. As Steve is entering the marketing side of his craft, there is a possibility that production times will be slightly longer than expected.
