A new Amoreantos' pendant design called Kidemónas meaning ‘guardian’ is now available here on Kickstarter. I’m Abbi and I am half of the Amoreantos’ jewellery design duo with my other half Tim. We’ve been working together creating pendants since 2018. With my expertise in graphic design and Tim’s knowledge of handcrafting jewellery, we make a great team and produce symbolic designs with a personal meaning. I am a member of the Guild of Jewellery Designers and Kidemónas is our 3rd Kickstarter campaign. We have learned from our previous campaigns and are now offering more great rewards for all our backers.
This dramatic Kidemónas pendant is one which I associate with myself. It evokes for me the memories of several family members who passed away in a very short space of time. I hope that they have become my ‘guardians’ in spirit guiding me through my own life. The Kidemónas pendant brings to mind the highest-ranking angel, the Archangel whose ethereal wings encircle and protect humankind. This indomitable angel will represent itself as a warrior spirit, so we have included the emblematic sword. Swords demonstrate courage and bravery, and this reminds us of the inner strength needed to live with and overcome grief. This design represents truth and the reality how we embrace the finality of the ones we love.
We have produced a model of Kidemónas in 925 sterling silver to give you an idea of what rewards are available. We are aiming raise at least £500 and will hallmark this pendant at the London Assay Office despite it weighing 7.1gm. (This less than the legal requirement 7.78gm). Amoreantos’ hand drawn designs are perfected in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, 3D printed in wax and then reproduced through the lost wax cast process in small casting runs in the famous Birmingham Jewellery Quarter (UK). We have established a process that means we are able to produce unique designs that make a bold statement. Using CAD technology in jewellery design is progressing and we aim to be at the forefront of upcoming trends as they develop.
The name Amoreantos combines the Italian ‘Amore’ meaning ‘love’ and the Greek unisex name ‘Amarantas’ meaning ‘unfading.’ I found life-changing inner confidence and strength on a short break in Lake Garda in Italy where I felt belonging. Tim lived in Greece for some time making and selling his jewellery. Our designs have a Greek and English name as a nod to Tim’s experiences there. I studied my Post-Graduate Certificate in Graphic Design at Coventry University and that education of visual language has complimented Tim’s flair for jewellery making. We design together to incorporate a genderless appeal and a logo style quality. Kidemónas is our first textured piece and has challenged us to think about the relationship with the front and back. I deliberately left an area on the back for the hallmark as it is a personal piece and I wanted to highlight that factor.
Our goal is to reach £500 and your pledges will help us with:
- Pendant production from creating the mould
- Hallmarking pendants
- Fulfilling your pledge requests
- Providing our hot foil logo printed packaging for the pendants
- Providing complimentary 18”-20” silver chains or black leather thongs
- If I over achieve my goal I will be able to afford to produce more pendants and develop our online sales outlets.
As this is our 3rd Kickstarter campaign, we hope that this one will be another success with your help. We are developing our range of designs on Kickstarter and finding a market for our pendants before production. We hope that we can become a brand that is recognised for a business model that rewards its backers. As a jewellery designer I can see the trends in genderless styles of clothing and accessories and to provide designs that meet changing needs. Working together with Tim is very rewarding and I hope that the culmination of our strengths makes for an aspirational brand.
Obviously without reaching our goal this project will not be funded so please pledge and tell your friends about our great Kickstarter rewards.
I hope that you will love our exclusive rewards available only with your Kickstarter pledges which are so much cheaper than online. Also all our backers will get a special mention on the Amoreantos’ website as well as social media.
Rewards are available with an optional chain or leather cord as we know that our customers often have a necklace that they already use to alternate pendants.
Risks and challenges
We hope that you will help us get this Kidemónas prototype into production in order to fulfil the fantastic rewards we are offering to all our backers. All our pendants go through a process and we are learning from our previous campaigns how to be more successful on Kickstarter. We have a great relationship with our casting company who have been through the procedure before and have really supported us along the way. Hallmarking these pendants is an extra that I wanted to include and is something we have done several times now and it normally takes an additional 3-5 days. However I know that despite our best efforts, sometimes life can throw a curve ball so I have left some wiggle room for the unforeseen things that occur which may affect this project. I will keep you updated regularly and let you know our progress.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
