Hi I'm Mike Kamber, Self proclaimed adrenaline junky, Inventor and most of all problem solver. Over the years I have wanted to use My GoPro camera to catch video of the adventures I get to do in my life, But was always to scared to mount the camera to get the best shot in the fear of loosing the camera. (which has happened in the past) So I developed a better tether system to ensure that the camera would never get lost from what ever I was attaching the camera to. With my system you can add 1 or 5 or 20 tether lines or safety straps and attach as many additional safety mounts as you want. You also don't have to worry about the plastic case breaking off the back or at the stock mounting tabs and loosing the camera. The camera has NO OTHER PLACE TO ATTACH A SAFETY LINE TO... Now you don't have to worry about it, Stick to a race car, the outside of a aerobatics plane, a kayak going through a class 5 rapid....NO PROBLEM, My product ensures I don't loose my investment and get to enjoy the adventure for ever.
I have sourced a engineering company that uses CNC milling machines to make parts for many different companies and products. They specialize in small parts that have huge attention to detail, Like the tiny screw holes that need to be taped, and the gasket line in the Tether Ring to ensure the case stays watertight. The company has already finalized the molds, which have been paid for, necessary to create the polymer version that will be injection molded. These molds have to be very accurate and so were very expensive. With your help we will be able to pay for raw material and labor costs to have the Polymer versions made. The prototype aluminum versions have also already been created. They were milled on a CNC machine specific to small parts. Special tooling was ordered to create the tight tolerances needed in the rings. The Polymer versions will be ready for installation as they come out of the injection molds. The Aluminum versions will be anodized to give an additional outer layer of protection and a beautiful finish that any designer would be proud of. All of the tooling and molds have already been made and paid for. To give our customers the best product we can we will supply every Tether Ring with new upgraded hardware. These will be the Allen screws and a Allen wrench that secure our Inner Tether ring to the factory outer ring and then to the case. Everything is in place and ready to start production on the parts, once production has started the first batch of rings will be able to be shipped within 2 weeks of the project being funded. Turn around time after the first set of rings is 2-3 weeks per batch. Since the Product is not large we will be able to send it via USPS in a prepaid envelope. The package will include everything in the reward that you chose as well as detailed installation instructions, new tools and hardware to remove the old screws, and install the new Tether Ring and New hardware.
Risks and challenges
My challenge with this project is that to have these parts made to the standards needed to function flawlessly, very expensive CNC equipment and VERY special tooling is needed. The tether ring has tiny holes that need to be tapped, it has a square cutout that holds the gasket to ensure the case stays waterproof. The materials to be used to ensure strength and durability are very expensive and have to be bought in large quantities because they are not off the shelf materials.
I have spent 4 months developing these rings and ironing out all of the flaws. I have everything in place to have the tether rings ship as described.
