The Atlanta Music Project (AMP) is a new organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. Inspired by El Sistema, Venezuela's monumental, globally acclaimed youth orchestra program, our mission is to uplift youths in underserved communities by enrolling them in an intensive 5-day-a-week after-school program where they will participate in youth orchestra, choir and group lessons.
AMP is led by Dantes Rameau, bassoonist and part of the inaugural graduating class of the Abreu Fellows Program, a prestigious post-graduate fellowship at the New England Conservatory which trains musicians to lead El Sistema-inspired programs in the U.S. and beyond.
Everyday after school, AMP programs will provide a safe haven for kids grades 1 through 6 where they will spend time doing homework, receive tutoring and of course participate in orchestra, choir and group lessons. A program that values aiming for excellence, we will perform concerts several times a year. AMP kids will also take field trips to various Atlanta cultural institutions such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Woodruff Arts Center.
The money raised by our backers on Kickstarter will fund the following expenses:
-Orchestral music instruments and sheet music for our students.
-A two-week Brazilian Samba and African Drum and Dance residency for our students, culminating in a concert by our students.
Thank you for supporting music as a vehicle for social change,
The Atlanta Music Project Team
