Sopio is a fun, fast-paced card game with a simple aim - reach 1000 points.
As simple as this sounds, it's harder to achieve when players are bringing you down with negative points cards, discarding your hand, making you skip turns and also trying to get to +1000 themselves!
You only need one deck to play with 2-6 people, and all the cards are stickart and puns.
Sopio was invented in 2010 by cousins Alex and Danny after an attempt to find a balance between the strategy of games such as Yu-Gi-Oh and the single deck simplicity of Uno. It was marketed almost entirely through YouTube influencers and has gone on to spawn 8 different decks (each with their own play style and theme that can be combined to create giant Sopio decks) a variety of small booster packs, a spin off game and a few mobile apps. Sopio has sold over 50,000 units worldwide and was nominated for Best Card Game and Best Expansion awards at UK Games Expo.

So what's a Legacy Game?
A legacy game is a board game variant first created by Rob Daviau in which the game is permanently changed over a series of sessions through various mechanics including stickers, task based unlockable sections and destruction of game pieces. Legacy games are designed to be played by similar game groups each time.
And that means Sopio Legacy is...?
Awesome! Seriously though, Sopio Legacy is a create-your-own party game with upgrades, missions, unlockable cards, and more. We've been working on it a while to make sure it's perfect and it's a mix of the best cards of Sopio re-designed mixed with some new cards, effects and mechanics. Unlike most other Legacy games that have a definitive end, Sopio Legacy is designed to leave you with a totally unique Sopio deck that you can continue playing games with.
Cool! What's in the box?
Being a game that includes items you unlock and discover along the way, we can't divulge the exact contents of the box, it would be like getting a computer game and telling you who all the bosses were, how to beat them and where the cool secrets were.
That being said, there are things we can tell you:
- Over 200 cards in the box, compared to the 68 in a normal deck of Sopio
- 16 packets to open either through general game sessions or by playing the game in certain ways
- Stickers to help you 'improve' cards at the end of each game and throughout gameplay
- Tuckbox to store your ever growing (and shrinking) deck
By backing the Kickstarter, you'll also get an exclusive set of cards to unlock and add to the deck.
What do I get if I back?
All support is great, however we have different rewards depending on the amount you pledge:

We have 4 undesigned cards right now, and if you pledge this level, contact us, we will then work with you via Google hangout or coffee shops (depending on location) to make your pun-tastic vision of a card come true.
What's the money for?
We've already got quotes from across the world for each component (India, China, Spain and the UK) and we are hand assembling each box of legacy and handling the fulfilment ourselves as we have done for the last 8 years and thousands of orders we have received over that time period.
Overall, we estimate to get 500 units printed we will need £5,000. We have £2,000 in savings, so need to crowdfund the rest. Any extra money will go towards getting more stock.
The cards are the main bulk of our costs - given that they are the main part of the game, and we have saved money by going with an outer game box with minimal printing and assembling the bundles ourselves with a small army of friends.
When will we get it?
Soon! We've already got the design work done for the whole project and have suppliers on standby.
What will you do if you overfund?
First and foremost, any extra cash will go towards stock, but we have set a few stretch goals in place designed to make sure the project we deliver at the end is the best possible one it can be.
£5,000 - Fully printed boxes
To keep costs down, the game box will only be printed on the top. However if we raise £5,000 we will invest in an all over print for the boxes.
£8,000 - Professional video tutorials
We plan to create a series of videos that explain how to play the game, whats in each section when you unlock it, how to use certain cards, FAQs and the like. We are very much used to video production, however reaching £8,000 means that instead of doing it in our houses we can actually get it done by a professional in a studio.
£10,000 - Dedicated Sopio Legacy website
Again, we already plan to have a tab on our current site - sopiocards.com - dedicated to Sopio Legacy so people can read rules in large font, check out FAQs and watch the aforementioned videos, but its a wordpress site designed in 2010. If we reach £10k we can invest in a Sopio Legacy site that is fit for purpose and enhances the game experience.

Playtester quotes about Sopio Legacy:
"Sopio legacy was one of the most changeable, engaging, games that I have ever played. I can't wait to buy it to play with my friends!"
"I am not a big gamer, but the ability to customise the deck and unlock new things was really surprising, I can't wait to buy it"
"Being able to create (and destroy) your own deck of Sopio was great and SO Satisfying"
"I've loved Sopio from Deck 1, this was an incredible jump in terms of gameplay and enjoyment"
"I loved the ability to personalise the game to me and my friends, and definitely the surprises that came up as we played"
Risks and challenges
We don't foresee any major risks or challenges, we've been doing this a few years now and have a good handle on manufacturing and fulfilment. That being said this project is big.
We tried to use one supplier, but they all quoted ridiculous amounts. As a result we are likely to be using different suppliers for each component and each game of Sopio Legacy will be manually packed by a small team we have assembled.
We've kept our stretch goals to a minimum to not complicate this process, and we have all the design work ready for manufacturers, but if a component is delayed out of our control then it could have a knock on effect. However. we've already built a buffer into our 'expected delivery' dates as a just-in-case' scenario.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
