AREA is a multi-genre game being developed by SPINNINGBRAIN. At the first sight, it looks like a shooter, but it also contains puzzle, platformer, stealth and exploration elements in equal share. Physics plays an important role in the course of the game.
This game is planned to be released at Q3 of 2018.
Discover this unknown environment as one of the investigators of Tycho Technologies, collect all the objects – the company calls them eggs – and work your way to the next level. A special weapon developed by the scientists of Tycho Technologies will help you. Using all the different energies available in the environment, this weapon can shoot plasma, manipulate gravity and materialize a floating walkway under your feet. You will find the energy packages for your weapon scattered around the levels. You can walk the levels freely but flying drones, floating robots, moving obstacles and God knows what else will try to block your way. You can fight them like this:
Tycho Technologies discover a territory on the Earth no one has seen before because it is surrounded with an invisibility field. They call it Area. The player is a member of a group of investigators Tycho Technologies sent to collect mysterious objects the company calls eggs. However, it is almost impossible to complete this mission because of the strange laws of physics. Luckily, the scientists of Tycho Technologies managed to figure out how to control these phenomena in the Area and made a suit and a gun using this technology. Investigators are equipped with this technology for self-defence. But nobody knows what the eggs are for and what Tycho Technologies wants to do with them.
This game is made with Unreal Engine 4, the most advanced multiplatform engine available for the public.
I have always thought I should create my own thing. The most important principle in designing this game was to make sure that the gameplay is very flexible and mixes radically different features in a way they do not neutralize one another but add up to give the player a consistent and unique experience. I wanted to create a game you can play multiple times and the playthroughs are never the same.
I would like to do this full time. Now I can only spend 2-3 hours a day with this project because of other work to do. I would also like to hire a concept artist to ensure that the style of the game is consistent and a 3D modeller. I will also have to pay the cost of the software used for the game. Later on, the game will have to find its audience which will take a serious marketing effort and these services are not for free either.
1) Press the 'Manage Your Pledge' Button above. If you have not pledged yet, it will say 'Back this Project'.
2) Increase your pledge in the 'Pledge Amount' box by the total of the add-ons you want to add.
3.) Save your pledge. Do not change the tier that you originally pledged at.
4) After the end of the Kickstarter campaign you will receive a survey that will ask you questions so that you can explain how you would like the add-on money assigned.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk is that this is the first game I set to develop alone. Although I have some experience since I have worked for other companies that developed games, designing a game that is based on your own idea from moment one to its launch and marketing is a complex and difficult task.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
