About this project
This is not your typical Nightmare On Elm Street documentary. Whether you're a horror fan or a gay advocate, Scream, Queen! has something to offer to everyone. We delve into a deeper subject of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 that has been at the forefront for years, yet no one has fully explored. This is a story not just about Mark Patton, the star of A Nightmare On Elm Street 2, but about Hollywood's gay subculture in the 1980s. For months we have been following Mark Patton around getting intimate accounts of how the backlash of NOES2 has deeply affected his life. From its release in 1985, fans and critics have raised an eyebrow at the not-so-subtle hints of Jesse Walsh's sexuality. Did this create the whirlwind of questions that set the film so far apart from all the others in its series? Village Voice publication was the first to officially comment on the film's gay subtext, releasing a landslide of both good and bad commentary from fans and critics worldwide. In 1985 being gay in Hollywood could cost you your career. Now 30 years later, Scream, Queen! is asking why?
Interviews with celebrities, film historians and fans allow Scream, Queen! to bring audiences a deeper understanding of the social atmosphere when A Nightmare On Elm Street 2 was released in 1985. The film explores the wide range of reactions elicited by the controversial movie - and how those reactions compare to those of today's audiences.
This year marking the 30th anniversary of the release of A Nightmare On Elm Street 2, we were able to capture the reunion of the entire cast and listen in on their candid panel discussion. This exclusive footage will be especially valuable to fans of NOES2.
Our amazing crew has been working tirelessly during any spare moment from their full-time jobs to make Scream, Queen! happen. We all have a special connection to this film and what it represents and are doing our absolute best to ensure our fans get a premium quality documentary experience.

TYLER JENSEN (Director) is a writer and director based in NYC. His short film documentary and music video work has been featured on The New Yorker, Vice, Pitchfork, Boiler Room and The Walker Art Center. He started making movies in his Minnesota basement, re-creating the likes of Speed and Rocky Horror Picture Show with action figures, happy meal toys and hand drawn sets at the age of 11.
JEFF HARDEN (Producer) is based out of NYC. He has been a horror fan since the first time he saw John Carpenter's Halloween and continues to have a passion for the genre. Jeff particularly enjoys producing human interest stories with universal themes that resonate with audiences. Harden has produced projects for well known companies including Sony Pictures, JWT and Tribune Entertainment.
SASHA LANDSKOV (producer) is a photographer and producer based in NYC. Landskov is the official Scream, Queen! marketing guru as well as the glue that keeps our crew intact. Her experience behind the camera as well as her on-set production work with corporate clients like Macy's, Home Depot and Fresh Direct has been invaluable to the film. She has a keen eye for detail and often helps keep the boys in line!
Heading up the editing process will be Tyler Jensen, an oft-director of feature films who has been the driving force behind the camera lens. Next we have International film duo Amber Gray and Julian Bernstein, known for their high end fashion and celebrity work, who are the creative team that will be stylizing the introduction to Scream, Queen! Then we have lettering and fx running through the Turbodog Studio, known for their extensive advertising resume. The all-important sound will be engineered by Roman Chimienti (executive producer) and his partners under The End Audio Productions, and mastered at Hothead Studios. Rounding out the core post-production team is Lito Velasco, composer, actor, producer, horror aficionado and "Nightmare" expert who is known for his work on All Through the House; Never Sleep Again (film and book), and Leviathan- The Story of Hellraiser.
WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
Through our own initial resources we were able to travel around the country to film Mark Patton and conduct interviews, including many with cast and crew members from A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Robert Englund, Jack Sholder, Clu Gulager, JoAnn Willette, Kim Meyers and Robert Rusler.
Now we need to reach out to fans and friends like you to help us raise the funds to finish the last leg of our journey so that we can tell this very important story- Mark's story.
We need to license exclusive footage from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, and for that we need a lot of fancy lawyers to make sure we do everything the right way to avoid any copyright infringement issues. Business insurance will cover our production gear and ensure that we can move our production into the final stages of distribution. Lastly, your money will help cover the cost of post-production artists- the people putting in late nights to make sure every frame of the film looks and sounds perfect...from the opening credits, to voice overs, scores and beautiful audio -and the creation of a finished movie that is sure to please.
Though the $49k will cover the essentials, we are hoping to raise even more than our initial goal in order to ensure our production is of the highest caliber. With extra funding, we will be able to offer additional surprises and updates that you won't find anywhere else. We have worked very hard the past few months, meeting and calling professionals who have helped us factor in all the costs so that we may present fans with a film that lives up to its greatest potential. Once the movie is done, we will need to work with distributors to secure as wide a release as possible so that loyal fans like you can actually see the movie. A lot of backing and planning is needed to show a movie on Netflix or to distribute through iTunes and other platforms; we have to hire more companies to help up do this. Additionally, we will need to purchase music usage rights. Finally, we will use this funding to apply to show Scream, Queen! at film festivals, so we can get our film seen by audiences around the world.
